Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

After the second exchange, you should ask for your money back!

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

There isn't going to be a second exchange. The engineering department's determination is that the new unit is functioning properly. It has the same exact issue as the one they just replaced with no explanation but now it's working properly. Sony should fire their engineering department because they obviously don't know what they are doing and are replacing TV's needlessly.

The support line basically told me to send in my receipt and a list of models I would accept as a replacement. I will have to pay an up charge if the TV is worth more. I don't know how much of a credit they are going to give me towards the new TV but I doubt I am going to be happy with it.

It really is unfortunate.

Marshmallow did not solve the purple issue to me. It even shows in my recently purchased Oppo 203 (with 'Sully'). Terrible, terrible.

This is funny. I have also asked the Sony Support if they exchange my 65XD9305 against a 65ZD9 if I take the more costs, but I have the answer that it is not possible.
I can only get a replacement device for my 65XD9305.

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

[ Edited ]

I found out something. The strength of the purple pull is related to the motionflow settings. When motionflow is off, e.g. In game mode, the purple is the strongest pull. If you configured motionflow to "Real Cinema" is the purple hardly to watch. I think this is also the reason why many say their device would not have the problem, they are not any gamers and watching movies do not notice them. I personally only find it in games, rarely times in a movie.

But whether I write this here or not, Sony does not seem to care.

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

It happens to me in any motion configuration, and not just in games. I think people mostly notice it in games because it is related to fast moving objects (in most games these days you have the control of the camera always changing it rapidly) and also dark scenes/environments.

Even changing Black level to 55 I still can see it a bit, though much less.

Ok interesting When I turn on MotionFlow and the black level to 55 I see no more purple.

Put your Gamma to -2 and Black Level to 53-55ish, the purple tint will be 99% gone.

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

Yes, we already know that. But this is just a work-a-round and not a solution to the problem. I just wanted to draw attention to the fact that the Motionflow = off makes the problem stronger and therefore the most noticeable in video games.
