Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

I've never owned a Sony TV, but isn't there any way to install an older firmware?  I know that there are "tricks" out there to fool the TV into thinking it's actually a newer firmware and letting you install it if the manufacturer checks versions (don't know if these "tricks" work with Sony TV's or not though).

I hate the fact that TV manufacturers don't let you downgrade firmware...  And some of them (Vizio) even forces the firmware updates on you - even if you don't want it.

Firmware downgrades should be allowed, just for cases like this...  Pet peeve of mine.  I mean I can install any firmware I want on my wireless routers and other devices - why should TV's be any differernt?  The firmware releases are always "full" releases and not incremental updates, so I don't see any technical reason why you can't install older firmware...

That interests me too
Is there a downgrade possibility?

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

So I called the tech support line again and I got transferred the level II tech support. The technician informed me the engineering team reviewed my file and..... stated I had to put the HDMI input to enhanced mode. I told the tech that it is in enhanced mode as I stated previously. I also begged him to look at this thread AGAIN so they can visually see the issue we are taking about.

They again ignored my request to look at this thread and stated I was being escalated to the engineering team. After putting me on hold for 15 minutes the technician came back and stated I would get a callback in 24 to 48 hours. This is the same thing the previous tech told me and I never got a callback.

I spent $3,000 on this TV. If I don't hear from somebody in the next 48 hours I am filing a case with the Better Business Bureau.

In closing, I will say again that any acknowledgement from the worthless Song Community people would be appreciated. This thread hasn't even gotten their generic post unless I missed it.

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

It is unbelievable how Sony deals with its customers. And they are wondering that they are losing ground on the TV market year after year on LG and Samsung.
I think I will exchange or sell my device.

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

Sony lost my sale over their refusal to even acknowledge this issue. I was seriously going to exchange my LG OLED for a 930d, but after reading this thread and the lack of response from Sony (among other reasons), I decided against it. I didn't want to end up with a TV that had purple effects on fast motion scenes with no response from the manufacturer. These serts are way too expensive for that kind of non-response.

Yes as it seems, but I am willing to see if the new unit fixes anything. Anything's worth a shot at this point. If this doesn't do it, i'm definitely returning this ****** TV.

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

So, I did not receive a call back from Sony engineering as expected. This is the second time I spoke to tier 2 support and had them not call back as they promised. I called back last night demanding to speak to somone. They gave me the same information they have been feeding me. The tech promised me the engineering tech would call me back today. That didn't happen.

I have now wasted 3-4 hours on the phone, most of it on hold while incompetent techs do nothing.

I am going to start filing complaints with whoever I can. I probably won't get my money back or a working TV, but I will do everything in my power to make sure Sony never sells a TV again.

To anyone considering this TV or another Sony product - don't do it.
