Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

The whole is really a sad story. The problem has been around for two months now, and Sony is not able to publish a hotfix for it.

It is really embarrassing for a global corporation, in addition the incompetent customer support. It's just ridiculous. Previously I told everyone the Sony has the best TVs, today I must unfortunately warn everyone before a Sony TV purchase.

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

I just picked this TV (65x930D) up to replace my 55x810C in the living room. I watched Band Of Brothers BR on default settings and saw a ton of the Purple banding Smiley Sad Never had any of if on the 810C. Hopefully Sony issues a fix in the next 42 days!!

Xeonpro,

I recommend you read the entire thread and then return the tv immediately if you can. Sony's support is horrible and you will just be in the same boat as the rest of us.

I seriously would return it tomorrow

Bad news, everyone. The replacement unit came in and lo and behold...purple. I'm awaiting a call back from sony to initiate a return. They better not give me any ****** about this. Unbelievable.

I uploaded two videos to demonstrate the "purple problem" with the Game "The Last of Us - Remastered" on PS4 Pro in HDR Mode:

You can link the videos to the start post if you want.

(1/15/2017 Edit): Marshmallow (PKG3.531.0108NAB) didn't resolve issue on my x930D. Still have to increase black level to 55 to work around it for most content.

PKG3.531.0108NAB is not Marshmallow, or?

In the Input Lag Thread you wrote PKG3.709.0120NAB

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

Great. I just went through a one week process with them. I'm sent in pictures, a video of the issue, etc. The engineering department's recommendation is a certified used replacement because it is uneconomical to repair. I was ready to have that fight with them next but luckily there were no certified used models available so they are sending me a brand new unit.

Unfortunately, it does not sound like it will matter because everyone who has tried replacing it has the same issue with a new TV. It sounds like their engineering department doesn't even know the problem exists because they keep recommending replacements instead of diagnosing the issue.

I have done everything I could to help Sony figure this out. Hopefully it is actually the tv and the replacement fixes the issue.

I know there's no excuse for this problem, but increasing the black level to 55 is a valid work around. Combine that with decreasing the gamma to -2 or absolute min, the PQ should be the same without the purple ghosting.

Re: (MAJOR ISSUE) Purple Tint on objects in motion (all x930Ds after latest patch!!!)

I received my brand new tv today. November 2016 manufacture date. The purple showed up almost immediately. I called Sony back immediately and I had to create a new Event ID. The tech was very helpful this time and took a lot of info but I hope I don't have to go through this entire process again.
