My New 49XE8005 smart tv is not SMART at all

I purchased a Sony KD-49XE8005 4K Smart TV, I made a market research for months and according to my budget in my country (Turkey) this was the best I can afford.

Actually, I follow all updates and it is realy not smart enough. Before I purchase people on communities were advertising that models alot but now I realize its faulties.

TV runs all features through its andoid operating system, and the OS is very slow. It runs like 4.2.1 running Samsung galaxy s1.

So when turn on TV and display shows on I click input button on remote and it answers after a minute.

Its web browser runs like an ancient device.

I try to use screen mirroring from my laptops to TV and At first few seconds works fine then stream comes at least 5 minutes behind. There is too much delay. My ezCAST dongle which is 10$ on ebay is way better than my TV OS. Als when use screen mirroring from mobile device, while video playing there are freezing every 30 seconds.

It has now latest update released last week and still have same issues?

If I know there is a way to return it to seller I would glad to change it with another brand which doesn't have smart features.

I would prefer a not smart FHD rather than that smart like TV.

Is there any one else have similar issues and know how to fix them?

Otherwise I will try to sell it soon

TV runs all features through its andoid operating system

Re: My New 49XE8005 smart tv is not SMART at all

I have a different model, but find that Chrome mirroring works much better than miracast screen mirroring with my windows10 laptop.   Try running the Chrome web browser on the PC, then from the top right menu pick 'cast'.   You can choose either the current browser tab or the whole desktop depending on what you want to do, and the TV should show up as a destination.

If you cast the current tab and it is playing a video, going fullscreen will eliminate showing the browser frame and just show the video on the screen.   If you want some other application to be mirrored, cast the desktop and then minimize the chrome window.

Also you may be able to find native android TV apps for whatever you are doing on the PC and eliminate the need to mirror the screen.

Re: My New 49XE8005 smart tv is not SMART at all

Realy appreciated, I will give this try today.
Actually screen is 49" and 5m away from my furnitures and I am not good at reading from that far. So rather than connecting my laptop to TV by an hdmi cable, I would prefer to use a screen cast to TV to see closer in laptop and share it with others in same room with my family.

This tech is working fine with any Samsung and LG TVs. And I did not purchase the Sony TV for its smart features or Android. I preferred the brand I trust and the picture quality I can afford.

So I was a bit disappionted. Also Trying to use its own apps but TV is that slow I would prefer to not to use its features.

Starting apps and using the remote to browse for content may be slower than on a PC but for something like a long video it may still be worth the effort.   Also, note that many apps like Youtube, Netflix, Plex, etc. have their own application level method of casting where you find what you want on a pc/phone/tablet and touch  the cast icon and the TV will load the same app and pick up playing the same content.   And if you are playing local copies of videos/photos/music frequently it may be worth setting up Plex or a DLNA server for the TV apps.
