Bought a 65" Sony Bravia and Sony Sound bar. Was working well, but now when I try to play Apple TV on HDMI setting, I get no sound. I can play it -- though it doesn't sound as good -- through the TV. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Here are some things to try. Since the Sound works when connected directly to the TV, I would start with checking teh Soundbar settings but if that does not resolve it then move on to checking the other devices.
On the Soundbar:
From the Menu-Select [System Settings] - [HDMI Settings] - [HDMI Signal Format] to [Standard format]
On The TV:
Clear Data or Cache for External Input Devices . Press the HOME button on the remote. Select Settings. Under the TV category, select Apps. Select System apps. Select External Input Services. Select Clear data and choose OK. Select Clear cache and choose OK.
Make sure that the Speaker Setting is set to Audio system Press the ACTION MENU button, then select [Speakers] — select [Audio system].
On the Apple TV: (Steps attained from AppleSupport)
Unplug both ends of your HDMI cable. Then firmly plug them back in.
Turn off your TV and Soundbar.
Unplug your Apple TV from power, then plug it back in.
Turn your Soundbar and TV back on.
On your Apple TV, select Settings > Audio & Video.
Make sure Audio Out is set to Apple TV.
Change the Audio Mode from Auto to 16 bit.
On Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation), change the Dolby Digital Out setting from On to Off.
NOTE: If you don't hear sound when you navigate the menu of the Apple TV, choose Settings > Audio & Video. Then make sure that Sound Effects and Music is on.
