Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

What are the shows you watched that look washed out, Have you tried Sony Camp HDR ?

Try changing in the color setting the Color space to Bt2020 when in HDR mode.

If you want a little bit more Color pop, turn on  Live Color to medium-low.

Finally what is the Picture setting you're traditionaly use when watching regular SDR

Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

I use standard or neutral on the regular settings.

Hdr content that I have tried is the Netflix native tvs
App show Marco Polo, the tv flickers and goes into hdr
Mode but then looks dimmer and washed out

I've also connected my Xbox one S set the hdmi input
To enhanced and am using a high speed 2.0 compatible
Hdmi cable that came with the Xbox one S

The HDR content in gears of war 4 gets activated then once
Again I get the same result a dark dimmer washed out look
Not colorful or bright at all

Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

maybe.  they still need to fix the horrendous lag in HDR mode and 4k.  unitl they do that I'm not even going to worry about how it looks in HDR.  I have an 850D and feel like i got a lemon myself.

I don't like this solution: Returning TV because of a: 'bad tube'.

Again, marco polo is the WORST show to appreciate HDR.

Have you tried Hibana spark on Netflix.

Also, what is the picture setting you are normally using when watching TV... SDR mode?

Have you tried tweaking the setting like I said.

It's weird that the image look dimmer... HDR mode usually pump up the backlight.

Go in image setting when in HDR mode in the last tab, you have an option to reset the HDR mode, you should have the option to reset to normal mode or vivid/vibrant mode, try resetting the image to this one.

Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

Marco Polo is not the only show I've tried.

Even Xbox one S hdr content such as gears of war 4 is also looking washed out and dim

Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

It's definitely weird but it seems to be an issue with the xbr55x850c , I've researched the issue and everyone so far with this model has been reporting dimmer/darker colors during hdr content.

I've tweaked the settings tried everything have the hdmi input on enhanced, double check to see if the tv is in hdr video mode during hdr content it flickers and gets activated

Still no look everything in hdr looks washed out and not vibrant / colorful like hdr content is supposed to look. I seriously don't know what else to try I think it's a firmware issue but I'm not sure

Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

Neutral, you mean standard ?

You don't use vivid mode ?

Anyway, Vizio P user has a lot of problems with the Xbox One S in HDR10 mode. They complain about the same problem as you, so it might be related. A Fix from Vizio is coming.

However, you mention that you also have the problem using the Sony app right ?
