Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

Nah, Nvidia fully support HDR.

But they use exclusive full screen support. It mean they bypass Windows image processing.... This is why it's possible for them to achieve HDR even though it's not out yet on windows.

Anyway, I had no intention to buy this game. I might pirated it just to see how HDR look.

All right, I'm downloading it right now.

I'll update in 30 minutes.

I'll finally see that input lag...

Did you set the hdmi input to: 'enhanced' and are you using a high speed 2.0 (Type-a) compatible hdmi cable?

Some say only port 2 & 3 are working properly in this setting.

Maybe you want to read this too: reddit.com.

I am no expert though. ;-)

Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

check this thread also http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1292810&page=4 , someone with gtx 1080 posted pictures , but does not look impressive at all , it only looks like small changes in saturation or color temp..that's not what hdr is , that's not the difference you would see !

Re: Sony XBR55X850C hdr washed out colors

Well,

You can't take picture of an HDR tv...

It dosen't work like that. You can't judge HDR quality if you're not watching it on an HDR TV.

This is why for the PS4 demo everyone was saying dont judge HDR by looking at youtube video... YOU NEED TO SEE IT LIVE.

Anyway, download at 64%.....will update soon

Well after playing for a while and switching constantly from SDR to HDR, there is indeed an higher dynamic range in HDR mode.

However the game is less overcontrasted. This mean there is much more shadow detail and the lighting is generally much more real.

However... People love fake look and over contrasted image. In game it can look cool. This is not what HDR is for. HDR mean truer.

I have a hard time deciding which one I prefer. Sometime unrealistic lighting look cool, but on the other side HDR is all about truer image. The color in HDR mode don't look that good, they sometime look oversaturated and sometime more realistic....

Also in HDR mode YOU NEED to reduce in game gamma to something like 0.65. otherwise the color look washed out.

The TV is indeed dimmer, that's strange because when watching HDR show like Hibana Spark, the tv is incredibly bright.....

Overall, i'm not that impress, but the game image look much more Real. It will be difficult to adapt to normal contrasted game...Those shadow detail are cool.  But is this what you realy want in a fantasy game, a high fidelity image ???
