Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

I emailed the original support team I was working though before moving to phone support and explained everything we've done and that 5 phone calls to the phone support has got me nowhere, and asked them to put me in touch with someone else.

They replied and told me to call the phone support line.

Not that it will get us anywhere I'm sure but, it seems at least moderators see these and say they will review the case:

I posted. Not expecting a single thing to come out of it though.

Edit: ...aaand for some reason they moved it out of Customer Relations and back into this forum. :\

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

DO ALL OF YOU HAVE 4K HDMI CABLE HOOKE TO ALL OF YOUR DEVICES? THAT FIXED MY WIFI PROBLEM . NOW THOUGH I FINALLY DRILLED A HOLE THROUGH MY LIVING ROOM WALL AND CONNECTED MY TV STRAIGHT TO MY ROUTER WITH A GOOD CAT7 CABLE. WORKS BEAUTIFULLY. AND I TOO HAVE COMCAST. HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

Such a shame, I love everything else about the TV, but this wifi issue is extremely annoying.

Assigning a static IP didnt do jack ******, btw.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

I'm posting my updates here (tl;dr version - 2 more phone calls, no where, took to best buy they said they'll make sony fix it)

http://community.sony.com/t5/4K-Ultra-HD-TV/Sony-customer-service-REFUSES-to-fix-my-x850b-tv-after-6...

WHEN something is actually fixed and resolved I'll post on this thread what the problem was. I don't want to Spam two places for updates though. That thread WAS in the customer relation section, someone moved it here.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION issue

Just an update. I get these little notifications as milestones hit. It went through recieved, shipping, recieved at service center etc..

then I got

"Your device is undergoing extended testing."

"We've diagnosed the problem."

"We've determined that a part inside of your device needs to be replaced."

"We've ordered parts for your repair."

Then I got a seperate email from an individual (not just some update center thing) and it said

"I’m writing from Best Buy Repair  regarding your TV Repair. The technician has ordered parts needed for the repair. As soon as the parts are received, we will begin the repair and test the unit. Once completed we will ship the unit back to the store. If you have any questions please call the number below. Thanks."

I replied saying if they had time to check, cuz I know it says to call the number etc (I hate being that guy), could they tell me what part was ordered.

They replied and said "Main board was ordered for the repair."

So, we will see. Will update when I get it back and see how it does and if the work order says anything additional.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

This is happening EXACTLY as described to my TV as well. I have KDL55W950B .

DOES SONY SUPPORT OR CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER READ THESE POSTS?

very annoying.

I was referring to GoodCooker's post

https://community.sony.com/t5/4K-Ultra-HD-TV/TV-WIFI-CONNECTION-KEEPS-DROPPING/m-p/479054#M2930

I have the XBR-65X850B and have the exact same problem.  Video stops at 25% download on Netflix and Amazon.  The reason I know something changed (perhaps the latest firmware update) is that the TV worked perfectly fine with streaming before and nothing has changed in the configuration of the Wi-Fi network.  Also, the TV is out in the open with clear access to signal.  I have an Apple TV box in a hardwood enclosed cabinet below the TV, behind a lot of other items of equipment, and it receives a strong Wi-Fi signal and streams perfectly.

I don't think its the network.  I suspect something has changed in the TV, and the fact that the OP stated the video stops at 25% and the TV loses Wi-Fi completely, just like me, I suspect its a more systemic problem with the TV vs. the network.  Was there a recent firmware update that might have messed with the wi-fi?

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

They don't care. Honestly. I don't know how else to describe it other than to recommend you read all my posts here. Which don't even explain it all. I've talked to about 10 different reps over 8 weeks, posted in the customer relations forum here, talked to people through email. Its just the run around time and time again looking for anythign but the TV to blame it on.

So I went to best buy and explained my trouble. They took the tv, claimed yesterday that it is fixed, and are shipping it back. They replaced the main board.

We will see.

One worry I do have is that I'll now have a firmware update available due to a new mobo, since I've read a couple people suspect that is what broke it, and I'll have to choose to apply it or not.
