Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

Just as an update - a few months after adding my TV's IP address to my router's DHCP table (which I thought had fixed the issue), out of nowhere it went back to having the same disconnection problems.

At this stage, I've given up and bought the new Apple TV to use instead. I definately won't be buying any Sony products any time soon - this whole thing has been a nightmare.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

I am thinking to do the same ...

I am in the business, and I know for a fact that it is NOT difficult to update wi-fi firmware of the TVs. Think of this, routers do it all the time. Same idea.

What a shame for SONY to not to address this COMMON issue that everyone's having. This is quite some damage to the brand and trust.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

I finally gave up and did the same. I got a Roku 4 (Best buy gave it to me since sony 'fixed' this issue finally when we sent it to them to force them, under warranty, but then sent the tv back with 3 more frustrating problems (not sure if I mentioned that here or on the other thread))... a couple weeks ago now, and things seem fine.

I won't buy another Sony.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

I'm having EXACTLY the same problems with my XBR-70X850B and I'm getting exactly the same responses from Sony "support".  In fact, it sounds like we are all experiencing the same puppet show from the same script!

I've had the whole 2line speed test shennanigans, had my cable company out six times to confirm that I'm getting suitable speed.  Had two remote service sessions to no avail (one actually ended because the signal dropped).  Moved routers close to the TV.  Showed Sony via a service session that I had suitable signal.  Yet, Sony won't authorize a repair or schedule a service call.  Oh, and btw, NO OTHER wifi device drops signal in my house.

I've always had Sony products - for decades - but this is simply baffling and amateurish.  They have had over a month to fix my problem, but have offered literally no support.  And it looks like this issue has lasted over a year from looking at these posts!

The product I bought was misrepresented on two fronts.  1)  The wifi doesn't properly work (and they know it's a problem judging from the endless posts here about it) and 2)  Their 'support' - which is part of what we're buying - is purposefully deceitful, inept and dishonest.

Maybe it's because I'm from California, but I'm done spending endless hours on the phone with them.  I'm going to turn this over to a legal team with the potential for a class action suit.  That is within our rights as damaged customers.  What legal consideration they contractually promised to provide is not being provided.  I urge others to pursue legal remedy as, apparently, this forum is just for us to vent with no real solutions forthcoming.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

Hi, all. Add me to the list of people with this problem. Had the TV (KDL-60W630B) for a few months and worked great. Just upgraded my internet connection and bought a new router and now Netflix randomly stalls at 25% then disconnects. Issues with Amazon Prime too -- rented a movie last night and could get more than 20 minutes into it. Gave up after having to restart several times.

I used the SpeedTest.net app on my smartphone to verify that my wifi signal is strong right by my TV, so it seems like the issue is the TV (that and the fact that we're all experiencing the same exact problem -- stalling at 25% and dropping is not coincidental). I also check the software on the TV; it's up to date.

I'm sure if there was a solution, it'd be posted here, but just to double check, anyone have any suggestions?

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

There's no solution. After 10 weeks of ****** with Sony, Best Buy sent mine to them and 'made' them fix it. They put in a new motherboard which fixed the issue but then introduded several others.

Then about a week ago a firmware update came in. I got all excited. But nope, it broke it even worse. Now all my internet connect apps are completely broken.

My solution was to get a Roku and committ to never buying Sony again. Works well for me.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

Its probably a setting in your router.that's the only new thing in the equation. Did you set it up properly?

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

Interesting, phases. Our problem started about a week ago -- I wonder if that firmware update is to blame for our issues?

And yes, I believe the router is set up properly. Every other device in my house is working and getting the speed expected from our internet plan. Plus, we have an Apple TV connected to the same TV that's having issues and it works perfectly.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

I got rid of all my wifi problems by connecting all my devices with cat6 cables. I h a ad to drill a hole from one room to another but boy it was worth it. No buffering issues and everything runs smooth as can be. I wish I had done it earlier.

Re: TV WIFI CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING

Glad you found a way that works.  Doesn't really solve the wifi problem though if you have gone to hard wire.  Anyway, at least yours connection is stable.
