Re: This last update is an absolute joke.

That's interesting, I wonder if it's the hdmi version. Still an issue with the cable shouldn't cause the tv to reset. I'll see if I can find some other cables to test.

Yeah definitely give it a shot. Im looking up what HDMI cable Xbox uses so I can get one. I read it’s HDMI 2.0b

Re: This last update is an absolute joke.

Correction. I unplugged the Xbox HDMI cable from HDMI 3/arc where I normally have it plugged and plugged it into HDMI 2 where I normally have my PS4 plugged into and it’s crashing again. So the HDMI cable is not the issue. Everything does work fine on HDMI 3/Arc. Try plugging into HDMI 3 and see if it works.

Ah, well funny enough, mine is on hdmi 3 and it's crashing. I tested hdmi 2 briefly and it worked but haven't tried it since.I think it's just unpredictable. I had to launch HDR movies multiple times till it'll crash.

Re: This last update is an absolute joke.

If you turn HDR OFF in the PS4 menu the TV will not crash anymore. I heard that Sony is looking into this as this affects a few Sony series TV. Most notably the 900E series.

Re: This last update is an absolute joke.

A Sony rep finally called me back and just confirmed it is a software issue with the PS4 pro HDR and the TVs. The current work around is to turn off the HDR on the Playstation until they can fix the software in the TVs and roll out the fix. He didn't know how long it would take but figured at least 2-3 weeks.

I have a brand new XBR75X850E and it has been doing the same red light flashing 8 times. The odd thing is when I move the PS4 to my older 65" TV (probably 3 years old now), it seems to work fine. I'm going to try turning off the HDR tonight and see if it will finally work on the new 75" TV.

Yea it’s been known for a while. They said it would take a few weeks about two weeks ago. I’m still waiting for them to call me back since the 28th.

[ Edited ]

I actually just made a purchase for the 49in 900e a couple weeks ago and had the above assortment of issues with the PS4 Pro + HDR/4k. However, all of these issues disappeared when I ordered some new HDMI cables from Amazon which appear to be confirmed as high-speed + 2.0b (my previous cables were not). I'm not an expert by any means but there are some very interesting discussions on AVS Forum about using HDR and 4K with uncertified cables - it appears to be a major cause of issues. To summarize there is absolutely zero requirement for manufacturers of HDMI cables to certify for high-speed or any particular HDMI version. HDMI versions like 2.0 and 2.0b are thus unenforced specifications. Everything is good at 1080p but once you cross over into 4K/HDMI land, if your cable isn't up for it you will see all sorts of issues.

I have a 'Zeskit' 3ft cable from Amazon attached to my PS4 Pro, Auto Picture off - Enhanced HDMI on - Game picture mode on - Low power mode on- and HDR is 100% on- and have had absolutely no issues at all since. Originally, I experienced random black screens every 20 minutes along with other random problems. I hope this is of some value to someone, regardless of how uninformed I might be. It might make sense for someone to give it a shot instead of initiating a return or RMA.

Re: This last update is an absolute joke.

No it’s the firmware. I’m using the cables that came with the ps4 pro and Sony uhd players and they were working fine till the day it was updated. It’s also not just hdr that’s affected.
