XBR-55X850D - occasional vertical green line

TV is a few months old.  We periodically see a thin green vertical line just to the right of screen center.  It isn't constant, and can appear regardless of video source (Netflix, which involves no cables, TV or Blu-Ray).  Even though it can appear when no HDMI cables are bringing the image to the TV, I've tried swapping those cables out.  I have not tried a hard reset on the TV yet.  Any suggestions?  I've attached a link.  The line is visible on the left side of the woman's face.

We are very sorry for your bad experience here. Please allow us to help you and make this a better experience. You may perform the troubleshooting steps provided below to fix and isolate the issue:

 

  • Lines on the screen (vertical or horizontal lines, bands)

    Lines on Screen

    • Press the HOME button on the supplied remote control to display the TV menu screen. If the lines appear on the menu screen, proceed to the next item below.

    • Perform a power reset.

      1. Turn off the TV.
      2. Unplug the AC power cord.
      3. Leave the TV unplugged for 2 minutes.
      4. Reconnect the AC power cord.
      5. Power on the TV.
    • Press the HOME button on the supplied remote control to show the menu screen. If the lines are still visible on the menu screen, the TV may require service.

Hi Bob:

 

I called the warranty support number earlier this week; they are replacing the TV.  And hats off to Sony -- they aren't replacing it with a refurb; I'm getting a brand new TV and a slight upgrade from this one.  I've marked your response as the answer even though it wasn't really, so the issue could be closed.
