XBR-65X850D random reboot after Firmware update

Hi all,

My TV XBR-65X850D recently got an auto update April 2017, and now I have random reboot.

I am positive it is the update that caused this because when I reboot manully before Android logo is like flying swooshes, but now there are color circules that turn into "Android".

Android Verion 6.0.1 PKG 3.865.0136NAIS

Any suggestion?

Re: XBR-65X850D random reboot after Firmware update

I'm having the same problem on my XBR75X850. I've tried a factory restore and reloaded some apps but still have the problem.

I am having same issue and was told to do factory reset.

You mentioned it did not help. What have you done subsequently to resolve?

Re: XBR-65X850D random reboot after Firmware update

I'm having the same problem with my 55x850D.  Apparently this issue has something to do with the lastest update.  I did the factory reset and it still does it at random times.  I work for Best Buy / Magnolia MDC, and I've never had a customer come back with this issue.  So I was thinking that I just had the unlucky TV, but apparently I'm not the only one.  I know people with the 930D and even the Z9D that doesn't have this issue, so I'm thinking that Sony needs to look into why the 850D is having this issue.

Thank you for your response.  The Geek Squad is coming Tuesday.  We've only had the TV since the end of December last year.  We aren't sure what to do, to try to negotiate another brand or what.

Re: XBR-65X850D random reboot after Firmware update

I would let the Geek Squad try to fix the TV first.  If it does end up having to be replaced, I still believe in Sony TV's.  If your Best Buy has a MDC or if there is one near by, I highly suggest you going by and talking with the system designers about which one they think is the best TV. (non OLED model, because Sony hasn't released the A1E yet)  If I were to get another TV it would either be the 900E or the 930/940E, because of the X1 extreme processor.  The 900E is a little bit more, not much, than what you paid for the 850D at that time, but it adds a full aray backlight for much better black levels and improved processor over the last model year.

I know not everyone notices the slight differences between models; but when you look at them everyday, especially with being able to control the content played on them, it makes you realize why one model is better than the next.

Erin - Not yet. We have an appointment for Best Buy's Geek Squad to come Tuesday. Should the factory reset be done?
