Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

930d only has 6.0.

If 3D doesn't have True Cinema, then I have motionflow off. It's possible true cinema is disabled there because the refresh rate is halved per eye, so you can't get full proper 24hz cadence per eye in 3D. Although across both eyes it should still work. Not sure what's going on there.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

[ Edited ]

well, i was browsing tv's at best buy other day, and its pretty sad the tv manfacturers are giving up on 3D. they had a 3D tv there, but it was an open box the LG G6. i plan on keeping my 930D for as long as i can.....

i am glad 3D movies are still being made and sold, but i was disappointed when a couple movies that were in 3D did not come out here in USA, they were Asian releases such as the last Resident Evil movie and Underworld movie and The Wall with Mat Damon. i was a little perturbed to say the least...

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

hey Joffrey, thank you....

i just want to mention something..........when my TV reboots itself, its not random, it only happens when i change modes. what i mean is i have my computer hooked up to my 930D and i love it, however, since last patch, not new one, my tv will reboot when i change from using computer to watching regular tv or when i hit the HOME button on remote and clik on an App.

one more thing, someone needs to tell microsoft to reverse their gaming patch cause now the graphics are bland. this happened a couple months ago, my graphics were awesome, i got a windows update said something about improving graphics on those who were using their tv's as monitors, called a gaming mode. well, after that my graphics ******. its either way to bright, colors are way to "hot" as ill call it, or looks really washed out.

i have read on forums on other websited alot of people upset about this, and its not just SONY tv's. its everyone who is using their tv's as a monitor. someone at microsoft really screwed up. why cant manufacturers test their freakin patches before they go live. i mean like WTF.  YEAH, i am ******...i said that in the tone of John Wick when he says, Yeah, I am Back.  lol

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

JoffreyS -

I didn't see a mention of any fixes for the 3D issues. Any estimate on when those are coming?

It's obviously a common issue since this thread is currently 19 pages, so there's no denying it happens. And I find it hard to believe Sony's QA department never saw units with the issue - did they just think no one would ever notice?

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

I believe first they tried to claim it was to be expected with Active 3D, and then they claimed it could not be fixed.

Both of these are incorrect.

I have answered a survey in which I described a few technical explanations on how to fix it, and I did receive a response which didn't appear to be automated, which thanked me for my feedback with a gift card, so maybe Sony now has an idea of how to fix it, and they do appear to still be dedicated to providing more updates for the 930d, otherwise some of the questions on the survey wouldn't make any sense.

So it's possible they may fix it in the future, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

I just bought the x940d and it has exactly the same problem. Wish I would've seen this page first. For this kind of money I expect it to be perfect. It's going back.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

And the fact that in 19 pages of complaints/discussion there has been only one post from someone connected to Sony (and that post didn't address the issue at all) makes me wonder about their commitment to customer service or lack thereof, and certainly gives the impression they don't care about fixing it. If the set didn't work well for the other features (and was such a major hassle to return as it wasn't available locally) I'd be returning it too. Probably my last Sony product anyway unless the problem gets fixed.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

It is quite a shame how Sony handled this issues, but they handled it. They knew two facts; 3D was being phased out and that most consumers would never test this feature. The 930D was a popular and successful TV and the fix for Sony was to pull the 3D tech from the X930E and watch X930D issue fade away. Unfortuanlty for those who bought the X930D to enjoy both HDR and 3D they will not enjoy both.

Sony's customer service is below average, they flat out do not stand behind their products and this is why I have since the X930D customer service experience ultimately chosen to not purchase Sony products because they don't stand behind their products. I have gotten close, but everything I remember the X930D.

Here is a list of lost opportunities for Sony.

Sony X930D, went with Samsung instead.

LSPX-P1, went with LG instead.

A6500, went with Panasonic instead.

RX100 V, went with Panasonic instead.

X900E, went with Visio instead.

Sony may be innovative but that's not enough...
