Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

another update-

tried some stuff this morning-

Turned 930D on, immediately chose a 3D .mkv file in the OPPO, went to the Action Menu, hit 3D display, turned 3D on (side to side), registered glasses....and it was a mess.....tried ALL picture settings (Sports, Standard, Cinema Pro, Cinema Home, etc)-same results.....
Kept turning glasses on (registering on the screen)....then Voila, perfect 3D picture. Stayed that way, for 2 other 3D files thru my OPPO BDP-103.....this all took place during a 20 minute trial.....

It is VERY apparent to me that this a synch problem with the 3D glasses being used; I mean, the thing works like a charm when I fiddle with the glasses...

My point is that Sony should be looking in this direction, i.e., i'm sure it is an easy fix...

As i said, this is MY experience.....and it still is something that Sony should address....because it is a real glirch in their product.....

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

Having to spend 20 minutes resyncing the glasses is unacceptable. This does prove that the set can proved better 3D and I’m sure if Sony wanted, crosstalk free 3D. It may be a hardware limitation or maybe something firmware can fix.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

Thanks for your effort. I wished it could work on my set too as a proof there is hope, but after spending 10 minutes of registering my glasses around 5 times, it is pointless.

Also I really suggest you to try if you can a real Blu-Ray 3D in 1080P, not a side by side 3D video which is at least half of the resolution and doesn't have menu nor subtitles. Text overlayed on the video makes it very obvious even if you think it is already perfect (with all due respect, I do trust you).

What is the exact model of your glasses. Do you think there is a different with the TDG-BT400A and the OEM version TDG-BT500A ? I guess those are exactly the same but I've seen on some forum an unsourced statement about the 500A having a function for playing on PS3 games on the same screen but with different view than your co-player. Would that be taken in consideration if that was a sync issue.

What do we know exactly about the fix firmware on the 65X850X, can we find a change log which will give us some light on what is the problem exacty. If it was really a sync issue, how come haven't they been able to provide the fix for the other sizes and our model ?

Also do we have a clear confirmation only the 65X930D has crosstalk, I haven't seen any review about the 75", according to rtings review the 55" is fine though

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

[ Edited ]

Okay, quick reply.....watched a very small sample of a 3D BluRay on my OPPO ( a few minutes of "TinTin"); had to make it quick, I got a very busy day in front of me. Not as good 3D (crosstalk was visible in Pop-Up Menu, i.e., "options for disc, etc"); the .mkv files of the OPPO were much more detailed.....I watched "Amazing Oceans" and "Gravity" previously, .mkv files,  The glasses are Samsung (came with my plasma, PN60E8000)-Model SSG-4100GB.

Tried different picture formats (Cinema Home, Standard, etc) - no real difference. Interesting why the .mkv files are so clear and void of crosstalk......I guess half the resolution as you stated? Anyways, more has to be done to fix this.

Will try some more experimentation later.....seems as though this problem is content related, which doesn't happen with my other 3D units......they work fine with all 3D media..........

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

Please those with twitter account, add your comment there. Someone is listening, there is still hope

https://twitter.com/LarryLstlmh/status/722256834866782208

Also, somebody mentioned on AVS Forum he exchanged his set and finally had one with crosstalk free 3D. I tested three models and all had the same issue, I feel it hard to believe has this is most certainly a software issue, especially in how a NATIVE 3D signal send through HDMI is processed. Maybe the 3D from a side by side might sometimes work like maka (Groovin') figured out.

Last, those of you who wrote a review on amazon, or will do (you just need an account there). Please even if it is not fair, DO NOT give 3-4 stars to your review but only 1 star. That way  the review will appear on top of the page as a critical one and get more attention which we all hope will end up in serious consideration in solving our matter.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

I just had a the Sony tech on the phone here in China, he came to my home last Sunday to run some test with a Sony Blu-Ray player connected directly to my 65X930D through a Sony cable, playing Sony Official 3D Demo Disc, we also played a bit of Amazing Spiderman 2 3D (Sony production). And of course acknowledge the crosstalk issue.

He had to process like this to make sure the answer you had from support in USA is not valid. It doesn't depend on content and third party hardware.

Now he reported that to the main office of Sony China in Shanghai who have asked to run test directly in the factory in Guangzhou.

Now let's wait for them to first admit the problem and then correct it for good. First time they roughly tested on 55" with side-by-side streamed 3D (not very serious)

Sony Support USA should do exactly the same, ask them to come to your home and test by themselves, validate the problem and report.

If Sony China figures out how to fix this, this will be a victory for all of us.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

None of your news sounds promising. I’ve spend thousands of hard earned dollars on a display that doesn’t work properly and now I have to beg Sony to even acknowledge it doesn’t work right. Meanwhile people who bought the 55 and 75 are enjoying their new 2016 display. This is exhuasting.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

Nothing is promising but it is not time to give up, quite the opposite.

Here is the answer I had on my amazon review

Hi Amazon customers, sorry for not replying sooner. We apologize for the frustration this might have caused you. Could you please, tell us more about the issue that you're having with your Sony TV? You can reach us out at socialsupport@am.sony.com including your contact and product information. Let us see how we can help you. Regards, Dave

Larry56 from the X850C thread had an answer by the same Dave after his posts on Twitter yesterday.

Please all of you here contact them again and go (hopefully a last time) through the whole process. I wish I could but they would say my problem doesn't concern them as I am in China. It is still annoying with all the information they have from forums and review we still need, they just can't test by themselves with any unit.

Anyway, let's just assume your guy Carlos (and some other from US Support Service) were absolutely unprofessional, didn't report anything to anyone and made all of us loose precious time.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

The answer so far has only be this tweet

@pierrepradat tnx 4 letting us know Pierre. Pls visit goo.gl/3t7jF to contact customer support 4 ur region. Dave

I wrote an email unanswered yet. My patience is very limited though. I strongly insist on the fact we need all to write very critical reviews on amazon.com and give one star only even if you could praise anything else about this TV. Everybody can do it, you just need a basic account. Commenting on my review which is the only critical is good but NOT enough.

For example, I'm not sure amazon reviewer called WhateverEd is active here but if you can read me.

Please change your score from 5 to 1 to make an visible impact (even if of course 3D appart this TV deserves much more) Your review is considered the most helpful yet (46 votes). It will matter !

They don't care about us here on Sonny Community, they don't care when we call them but really would on amazon.com

The average buyer doesn't check this forum, AVS forum or Rtings to have a first idea. He checks on amazon.com. That's were it matters to be active.

Proof is we had an official answer (or acknowledgment of existence) which might just have been written so they don't totally loose face in front of potential buyers. So far on this thread and the 850C one, not a single word from Sony, they usually answer other ridiculous little matter for different products. They are mute on purpose.

Be really clear about 2 points in the title DO NOT BUY because not only 3D is ****** but also because Sony ATTITUDE is unexcusable.

We can't let them just one more time keep our request unanswered and hope we'll give up. They might have to put some money to debug their firmware 3D issue, this might be a couple of hours for the engineers to spend and to be paid for but that's still far less money than each of us paid (around $3500) for this TV.

Also continue to spam them on Twitter and even on the phone. We have to be agressive to get this problem solved

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

SnipeUout, please read the latest update from Larry56 on the X850C Thread.
He did the effort to contact them again and they DISMISSED Carlos claim.
Apparently the same guy you had on the phone before. They assured Larry twice they were still looking for a fix. IMHO, you should call them again ASAP now it's hot. I wrote a mail too, I'm doing everything I can on social media and amazon to create a momentum but they already replied on twitter I have to contact my regional support service and would probably do the same on my mail. Trust me, if I was in the US, I would call them everyday.
So please, put some more heat on them, now is the time again.
