Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

Well --- Two weeks now and no major response from Sony. This can be added to the purplish tinge that Sony has not responded to as well as the lag time issue and others in the 4k threads.

Sony just doesn't seem to get it.

History of misleading customers and not responding to issues seems to be the norm for them.

On the plus side, there have been several hundred views of the postings.

People who view this thread need to get on board and throw in their concerns too so that Sony sees it's more than a couple of people voicing concerns and post these concerns at Amazon, Best Buy and other major chains so that potential customers can see how poorly Sony handles the issues.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

Was hoping this would get resolved but sadly still seems to be an issue.

Going to wait before springing for 3D glasses Smiley Sad

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

I have read a number of complaints such as yours (and in a number of places) about terrible 3D performance in the X930D and other 2015 Sony TV series. Customer frustration in this forum appeared to reach a maximum around April of 2016, and then suddenly seemed to stop.  Can you or anyone else update me as to whether Sony fixed these problems so I can possibly buy a quality 3D set, or should I still give this a wide miss?

Also, would you know if the 2016 Sony TVs still exhibit the same 3D issues, and if so, whether they are limited to the 65" (with the 55" performing properly)?  Many thx.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

The 3D issue still remains on the 65". From my understanding, the issue is not as severe on the 55".

Frankly, Sony's position is loud and clear that "no answer" is their position. Ignore customers and the problem goes away.

The same thing went on initially with the bend on the upper part of the 65" sets, resulting in the "within specifications" response.

The purple tinge issue still has not been responded to as well.

if you really want 3D, the options are really limited to LG sets, but the 8500 and 9500 models have had problems. The OLED sets seem to work fine.

I recommend going to avsforum.com and looking at the threads of the various models to get a clearer picture on 3D sets, or wait until CES in a week or so to see what new models will become available by the manufacturers and if any will have 3D.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

I wound up exchanging my set seven times because of this issue. That's the stock my Best Buy had, seven sets. They could not believe it, either. They saw the issue, said it was definitely a fault and valid for exchange. So now Sony has seven sets going back to them, maybe that will send a message? Who knows? Since Best Buy ran out of stock to make an 8th exchange, I just got my money back and wound up just getting a cheaper and slightly older Vizio. I'm done with Sony. I calculated that in my lifetime I've handed over around $27,000 to them for various products, and I'm not even 30 yet. So that's a lot of missed future sales.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

I just got off the phone with Sony after spending over an hour with them. They blamed the glasses like crazy, of course. Luckily, I have a XBR-55X930D also. 3D works perfectly on it! I was transferred to upper customer support where a report has been made that it was proven to NOT be the glasses, but the TV. I also made sure they noted this forum, which I wish I had found prior to buying the 65 inch. I am supposed to get a call back within 3 days. I will keep you guys updated.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

MANY thanks! I have actually spent days investigating the LG OLEDE6P (3D version; 55") & came close to buying twice. I believe it IS the best, but the cost vs. benefits were hard to justify. That's why I wanted to double-check the Sony but everyone seems unanimous in giving them a wide miss! Sad, as they used to be "the best." And my instinct is that there will be fewer rather than more 3Ds at the CES - which is an answer by itself. So, it's either the LG or the somewhat novel Avegant Glyph since I'm the only member of the household hanging on to 3D...lol. Thx for your helpful reply.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

Thanks for helpful info. Amazing the difference between 55" and 65", but I'm really not impressed with how Sony has dealt with any of this.

P.S. avsforum.com is a great idea.

Re: XBR-65X930D faulty 3D

It really is quite amazing to me how a corporation can be so blind to the ill-will they are generating - at the same time that they spent untold amounts on the Sony "image." Thx for your input.
