XBR65X900E - Launching PlayStation 4 Pro game causes TV to power off, status light blinks red 8 times

Not sure why, but everytime I launch Uncharted the television turns off and blinks red 8 times.  When I power cycle the TV, it goes through some color check and then I continue playing the game.  Kind of annoying though.  Any ideas?  I'm on the latest release of the PS4 and TV.  I also have it going through a Sony 4k AV receiver.  GG Sony.

It's the latest firmware update. It messed up a lot of people's TV. You'll get this issue with HDR turned on. Happens with other devices as well. You'll have to disable HDR on the ps4 for now.

Confirmed, turning HDR off in the game prevents the TV from powering off. Appreciate it.

An alternate "solution" is simply to powerup your PS4 first, then your TV, and avoid changing the input. I was able to play MH: World last night for several hours without any crashes (there were a few occasional glitches, but they passed quickly). It's not foolproof, but if you really don't want to go without HDR, it functions well enough to be passable until the next update.

I can turn on the PS4 without it crashing the tv, but as soon as I start a game, it crashes. Tried it with MH and Horrizon. At least for us it's only the HDR, others have problems with watching TV in general. It's been nearly 2 weeks now and nothing from Sony. If they really wanted to fix, you would think they could offer to send a tech out and replace the on board storage with a clean version or reformat the tv.

I just checked the support site's firmware update list - looks like the last one was 1/16/18 (PKG6.2818.0075NAA). Lets hope we get an update in the next week or 2.

That's the one that's causing the issue. Yet they still have it up for people to download. They didn't even seem to know about the issue till last week so it's not looking good that they'll fix it anytime soon.

Re: XBR65X900E - Launching PlayStation 4 Pro game causes TV to power off, status light blinks red 8 times

Having same issue here with my 900e.

For me it’s triggered on HDR games on my PS4 Pro.

I have an Xbox one X connected to hdmi 1 which doesn’t support HDR. 4K games work fine and never trigger the 8 flashing red lights.

I just got a PS4 Pro and connected it to HDMI 3 and enabled HDR. As soon as I play COD WWii (which is an HDR 4K game), the tv will shut off and flash the red led 8 times.

Even worse is I can’t get out of this situation unless I yank the power cord which is a PITA since my TV is wall mounted.

Are you guys using different inputs in the tv? I have everything routed through my Onkyo RZ610, with one HDMI to input 3 on tv. I get HDR and 4K from my UHD player, HDR from my regular PS4 without issue. The tv seems to take awhile when I switch AVR inputs sometimes going grey and saying for me to switch inputs. If I go to home screen an select hdmi 3 it works again. I’ve disabled auto updates, but it updated the 28th when I bought it. Pretty ****** to have to ****** off the main feature of the TV, terrible update.

Re: XBR65X900E - Launching PlayStation 4 Pro game causes TV to power off, status light blinks red 8 times

I have my Xbox One X connected to port 2 and my PS4 Pro to port 3 - I've enabled HDR (Enhanced) output on both of those ports. We've discussed it on other threads, but it appears that turning "Auto-Picture" off in the TV settings can help. I've disabled Auto-Picture on both input 2 and 3, and haven't had a crash since.

In the worst case, you can always disable HDR on the PS4 or Xbox settings.
