errors after update

Regarding my xbr-55x900c serial number 5022754 software version pkg3.865.0136nab.. The latest firware update has caused several  problems. 1) at least twicw a day an error appears stating "unfortunally watch tv has stopped" which requires a reboot each time. 2) The volume indicator dosent appear.


Anyone know of any resolutions? It worked just fine until the latest upgrade. Really bummed!

We recommend performing another software update to version PKG3.885.0137NAB to fix the issue. 

Before You Start

  • Your TV must be connected to a wired or wireless network.
  • If you have network connection issues, download the update to a USB flash drive, and install it to your TV. Go to Drivers and Software .

Check for Updates

It is important to keep your Android TV™ up to date with the latest firmware and software updates. These updates include key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.


Check if updates are available for your TV.


By default, the Automatic software download setting on your TV is turned ON. If an update is available, it will download automatically. If this setting is OFF, you'll have to manually check for available updates.

  • Automatic updates are turned OFF if you disagreed to the Sony privacy policy during the initial setup.
  • If you change the Automatic software download setting back to ON, you won't receive software updates through the internet until you agree to the Sony Privacy Policy. The Sony Privacy Policy can be reviewed in the Privacy Setting of the Help menu.

To check if the Automatic software download setting is turned ON or OFF, or to manually check if a system firmware update is available, follow these steps:

  1. On your supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
  2. Scroll down to select the Settings menu.

  3. Select Help
  4. In the Help menu, scroll down until you find System software update - Update the TV system software under System.

  5. Then, either use the Check for a system software update function, or restore the Automatic software download setting to ON

Your TV will browse for updates and will offer to download them, if any are available.


Update the Software

To update the software:


    Download updates through the internet.


    Follow these steps if the update is available for download:

    1. The TV screen displays the contents (new features, bug fixes, etc.) of the update and asks you to proceed with the download.


    2. Select Upgrade Now to continue.


    Note: You can use your TV normally while it's downloading an update.


    Downloading and installing updates are two different processes.



    To install the software update.


    After the download is complete, a message displays on your TV screen asking if you want to install the update.

    Select OK to start the installation. Alternatively, you can select Cancel, and install it later.


    IMPORTANT: The installation process usually takes about 30 minutes. An update icon will appear on your TV screen during this time.

    WARNING! There is a risk of hardware damage. During the installation of the update, don't press any buttons, power off the TV, or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware update may cause the TV to become unresponsive or require repair.


    As soon as the installation completes, you can use your TV normally again.



    Updating the software using a USB flash drive.


    If your TV doesn't have internet access or you wish to do the update manually, you can download the update to a USB flash drive and then install it on your TV. Go to Drivers and Software .
