Re: x810c HDR update

And streaming HDR with Netflix. Apparently with the Amazon app it was patched out recently.

*****This will probably vary from model to model because Sony has been really, really, really horrible with their support/updates/communication/not lying overall.

Re: x810c HDR update

@RJASSI

I agree somebody the adverts said it was HDR and for them to be honest it would need to be 4K HDR, but 1080p (10bit) HDR would let them keep face and avoid a U-turn. It would also still allow them to differentiate between the models. My worry is they will not even allow this.

Incidentally the Netflix streaming test, "sparks" is both HDR and high frame rate. I think gaming requires a higher frame rate?

Re: x810c HDR update

Movies are 24fps games can go up to 60 fps. How are you sure that sparks is HDR? Has the picture setting changed? I dont think sparks is available in the uk. I dont remeber seeing it but ill look for it later. If sparks is 60fps hdr then there is literally nothing stopping us frim having hdr, only Sony.

Re: x810c HDR update

It is a high frame rate HDR test. It says so in the description. If you search for "HDR" it is there. It is only 3 minutes long. I do not know what the frame rate is, but it uses the word "high". The picture is of a welder. It is definitely there in UK, as I am and do not use a VPN

Re: x810c HDR update

Ok then I will look later. How do you know the TV switches to hdr though? Is it the same as when playing HDR from a pen drive?

Re: x810c HDR update

I did not check, but it is a specific test film and so I cannot see why they would upload all a non HDR version. Also it looks like HDR.

Also, I m not sure about how to do this test. Even with films on USB that are definitely 10bit HDR I can adjust the picture in the Action Menu. In 10 bit HDR I thought this should still be possible. 12 bit no.

Re: x810c HDR update

Hmm with hdr clips I cannot adjust the picture settings. Only if I open action menu quickly can I adjust the settings. Ill have to look into it. It seems to be the same with YouTube hdr. The picture mode is normal but it looks like hdr but I noticed with YouTube that even when playing HDR on my pc or Tablet it still looks hdr. I did download a YouTube hdr video but the video wasnt hdr when I played it back on my tablet and TV. It definitely looked sdr. So I think that YouTube might simulate hdr, same for Netflix. But im yet to see Netflix do it.

Re: x810c HDR update

I remember from the late 90s and early 00s on computers selecting the number of colours.

Most computers now have "true colour", which is 24 bits for each of the three components. My laptop doesn't even have the option to select the bit depth anymore. I am not sure in which year it dissappeared.

You can still adjust the range over which the bits are spread. I think it is called gamut.

Re: x810c HDR update

I have a gtx 780 in my pc and I can still change the bit depth.
