Need SD card recommendation for Sony FDR x3000

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I'm new here and I've been having a look around the forums for a couple of days now. I plan on buying the Sony FDR x3000 sometime this year for documenting my Japan holiday trip in late October, and was just wondering if anyone has any recommendation for memory cards to use for this particular camera? Should I go for the SanDisk Extreme 128GB microSDXC and SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB? I'm hoping to have a card that has the biggest storage space and able to film in 4k with no problem at all. I'll be in Japan for two weeks so a card or multiple cards with enough storage is something I want to have.

Also this is out of topic but would an Pilotfly Action-1 Gimbal be a good addition for this camera as well?

Any help will be greatly apprecaited

Cheers

If you open the desktop version of this site https://www.reddit.com/r/sonyactioncam/ , you will find two linked SD cards in the sidebar, which I personally tested and confirmed to work with the 100Mbit/s modes.

You're very welcome.

There surely are 200 and 256 GB cards, which work too, yet I haven't yet had one to test and therefore I can't recommend any.

If it just were so easy Smiley Very Happy

There are cards which meet the requirements but still won't work. Therefore I always tell people to only use cards other users already confirmed to work.

Re: Need SD card recommendation for Sony FDR x3000

There sadly are no reviews for that card with speed benchmarks.

Also it says 'class 10' in the title which would rate it too slow.

The packaging on the second image only mentions the read-speed, which is rather unimportant.

I wouldn't take the chance to be honest.

Yet if you get it, it would be nice to know if it mayve works anyways.

It has the U3 speed rating as well, so it should work...theoretically.

I saw on another post, that Sony support is claiming that they tested their cameras with cards from a few third party providers, including Toshiba.

I posted the same question on their customer support page, so let's see what is the answer there.

Re: Need SD card recommendation for Sony FDR x3000

As I mentioned before I once bought a Samsung U3 card with 95 MB/s WRITEseed, which I even benchmarked, yet it wasn't accepted by the cams for some reason, hence me telling you to only go with recommended cards.
