Re: Sony FDR-X3000: 2560 x 1440 60p 100 Mbps

You know, what the word "would" means?

But: The 1440p resolution is missing. If you want 60 fps, you have to reduce the resolution to 1080p with a video recording rate of 50 Mbps.

So 1080p, 120fps, 100Mbps doesn't work for you?

Re: Sony FDR-X3000: 2560 x 1440 60p 100 Mbps

Of course it works. But what does it have to do with 60 fps?

120 fps is only useful for slow motion as the image quality suffers. It's just too noisy.

For me 60 fps currently is the best framerate for an action cam: The impact on image quality isn't noticeable as with 120 fps and the footage is much smoother than with 30 fps.

What's wrong with my suggestion? I didn't know I would hurt anyones feelings with it.

I love this action cam, for me it's the best available by far. Not resolution options makes this cam attractive for me, but image quality and optical stabilization.

I just hope it's possible to implement 1440p @ 60 fps with 100 Mbps. If you don't want it, you don't need to support me, but why put a spoke in my wheel?

No one puts a stick between your spokes.

You got your answear already and this is not the "Join the inspiration" suggestion thread.

Also just FYI - 120fps1080p@100Mbit/s and the 60fps1080p@50Mbit/s give you the exact same quality per frame if you have enough light available.

Re: Sony FDR-X3000: 2560 x 1440 60p 100 Mbps

I asked two questions. First question:
Wouldn't it be possible to give us 1440p with 60 fps and a video recording rate of 100 Mbps?

You answered, right. Without source. Where do you have your knowledge from?
First you wrote:
"2. If I informed myself correctly - XAVC-S does not support resolutions between 2160p and 1080p. Therefore it is technically not possible to achieve on this camera anyways."
then
"FYI point 2 definetly applies."
Why shouldn't it be possible to implement an intermediate resolution? What's the explanation for this? Why should I just believe in what you write?

Question not answered.

My second question:
What do you think?

Sorry to inform you that you are not the hub of the world, so other opinions matter to me.

Question only answered by a few.

"... if you have enough light available." Wow, someone really gave you kudos for it. Congrats.

Also just FYI - 120fps1080p@100Mbit/s and the 60fps1080p@50Mbit/s give you the exact same motion smoothness if you don't move the camera while filming a still.

Personal Suggestion: Stop trying to read between the lines, there is nothing to find.

During my first answer I just recalled something I didn't remember where I know it from - in between my first and second answer I remembered.

You accuse me of reading between the lines, yet you are actually the one seeing things which I didn't write.

First of all: Sorry for being rude.
I didn't register here to pick a quarrel. To be honest I appreciate your contributions to this community and elsewhere.

I really don't understand what made you think I would demand anything. I just wanted to start a constructive discussion. But instead I was knocked back. Smiley Sad

More details would be really interesting to me. I just don't get, why it should be impossible to implement the 1440p resolution. I know it's very unlikely that Sony will do this. But don't you think, it would be a nice feature?

It would be a great feature, not least because 4K is a "marketing target" which at this price level is mostly poorly implemented and is impractical for video hosting.

No need to apologize - I am sure I misunderstood you right at the beginning and it carried trough.

@Peter:

Of course it would be useful, I never said otherwise.
