A7ii ISO100 Dynamic Range?

Hi all,

I'd just like to if anyone knows the dynamic range/EV range for the A7ii at ISO 100. I just came back from Europe, shot underexposed and overexposed photos but couldn't really tell how much I was really able to push the shadows or recover the highlights. Does it also depend on the lenses I use or is there a baseline for this body regardless of the lens? TIA!

Re: A7ii ISO100 Dynamic Range?

According to DxOMark, at the ISO setting of 100, the A7 II has a dynamic range of 12.83 Ev.

The lenses don't affect the dynamic range of the sensor.

Re: A7ii ISO100 Dynamic Range?

My next question is, how do I know how many stops I'm pushing just from boosting shadows and/or exposure? 12.83EV sounds like a lot but when I'm actually shooting at ISO100 and push the shadows all the way up using underexposed photos, the shadows actually don't recover as much as I'd like them to be 😅
