Brand new A6500 won't turn on

I just got this camera in my hands and it wont even turn on. It is fully charged and nothing happens when the camera on switch is turned.

I did all the manual reset tricks sony said to do and nothing happens.

Now I have to pay to ship this camera internationally and wait another 2 weeks for the camera.

This is absolutely absurd I must say.

Re: Brand new A6500 won't turn on

This is absolutely ridiculous to be honest.

I purchased the camera on the 24th of June, received it on the 5th of July. The camera would NOT switch on out of the box. BRAND NEW.

Spoke to Sony they made me send it to PCVR to get it warranty repaired.

Camera arrived to PCVR on the 20th of July and it is currently still waiting on parts (1 week later).

PCVR say that parts take up to 7-10 business days to arrive (wow I thought we lived in 2017). PCVR states that the parts may come in the next 5 business days  (another week)

Then it takes about 3 business days to fix the camera, then about 4-5 business days to get to my shipping address.

So I am looking at at least another 2-3 weeks to get my camera back.

By then it will be well into august and about 2 months since date of purchase!!

Why can't Sony just take the camera PCVR has for me and send me a new one? The camera is BRAND NEW NEVER USED.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot believe i spent $1600 on this and have to go through this insanity.

I presume too much time has passed for the retailer to replace it for you. Some credit cards offer buyer protections beyond the manufacturer's warranty. Have you checked into that?

However you bought the camera, it's yours, and if anyone is responsible for it's condition prior to you receiving it, it's the retailer, not Sony. It seems likely, however, that you waited too long to seek a remedy from them.

Agree with TCav. DOA issues should be resolved with your vendor, not Sony. Most vendors provide a 30 day return window for full refund.

Re: Brand new A6500 won't turn on

What you might try (if you haven't already talked to your retailer) is complain to the retailer that you bought it as a gift, and when the gift was open, it didn't work. In that situation, they may add a grace period to their return policy, which may get you in under the wire.

But HURRY!

Re: Brand new A6500 won't turn on

Thanks for all your feedback.

The camera is already with PCVR. When I called Sony to explain everything they said to send it to repair, not back to the retailer.

I do not live in the USA so its not that easy.

It's just a ****** situation.
