Re: a6000 doesn't recognize lens that came with camera

I'm having the same problem with my a6000.  My 2 sisters in law each bought the same camera on my recommendation, and are BOTH having the same problem.  If all 3 cameras, all purchased within the past 3 yrs are having the same problem, I'd say there is a manufacturing problem that SONY should take care of. I'd expect much more quality from Sony, but sadly it doesn't look like they will be my "Go To" company in the future.

Re: a6000 doesn't recognize lens that came with camera

Fixed mine. No tools. Easy, but annoying.

I saw the post about the stuck extender being an issue and didn't want to open the lens. It was out of warranty and annoying me, so I figured I had nothing to lose.

1) Added a Tiffen UV protector to the lens - this gave me a "grip"

2) Turned the camera on while holding the UV Protector and "pulled and wiggled"

3) It extended

4) Subsequently, I am able to turn the power on and off and it extends and recognizes the lens

I think maybe a little grain of sand or dirt got stuck in the ridge around the inner and outer portions of the lens - where it extends. Wiggling it "freed" the inner extension and allows it to work. So far, so good.

Here is a link to images of my fix - sorry I can't seem to embed them here.

Also - if you don't have the UV cover to get the "grip" - I think the lens cap should do it. You just attach it and hold the rim while pulling and wiggling. Hope this helps some folks.
