Re: a6500 BIOS Update fails - check the connected device

Hi Courdin66,

Welcome to Sony Community!

The camera might power off during a firmware update with errors or it might not power back on after disconnecting when the firmware update is completed.

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot this issue.

NOTE: If a model-specific information is required to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Go to Manuals, Specifications & Warranty.

  1. Ensure you are using fresh or fully charged batteries.

IMPORTANT: Batteries discharge more quickly when used in cold weather conditions.

  2. Attempt to turn on the camera.
  3. If the issue is not resolved, try replacing or recharging the batteries.
  4. Attempt to turn on the camera.
  5. If you have the optional AC power adapter, try connecting it to the camera and a working electrical outlet.
  6. Attempt to turn on the camera.

If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required. For repair related concerns, please check out our eService website.

Regards,

Jerome
