Re: "Warning you are in NTSC Mode" wtf?

News?  Yes, see here. http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/57724904

Seems the problem might be history.  Whatever, no longer an issue for me as I have sold my A7RII  because of the EVF dimming when shooting 4k and for me when it comes to photography it is overkill and I was not using it.

Cheers.

Re: "Warning you are in NTSC Mode" wtf?

[ Edited ]

for the brave ones, this might be a solution, for me its not. I have a bad feeling, installing a hack on my camera. What if a future OS Update will fail, because of the changes you made with this hack? I WANT THIS IN AN OFFICIAL UPDATE SONY! We now know the on/off feature for this is already there; it just has been hidden by you to bug us to death.

btw the other forum is full of people, who are annoyed by this "feature", too. So Sony, whats wrong with you? You want to exist in the next 20 years? Then LISTEN to your customers. Times have changed since the 80s and 90s. This is important today. Get it.

Re: "Warning you are in NTSC Mode" wtf?

You are right.
PAL and NTSC have real value only with the classic old CRT glass televisions. It has to do with the way electrons scan the phosphorous materials on the glass tube of old TV. All flat LCD, Plasma TFT, OLED etc displays can play both system since early 2000. Also with DVB digital channels there isn't real distinction between both formats.
Simply digital cameras have inherited the old format frame rate which are 25fps for PAL and 30fps for NTSC. Also SONY offers only 50fps for PAL format and only 60fps for NTSC. In the age of web and cheap storage the 60fps is the best choice.
My Sony a7 when I change from PAL to NTSC, it demands from me to format the memory card. I really can't understand it.
24fps has a cinematic look which many may like it. But is not available in PAL format with my Sony a7. Only 25 fps is available. If I want 24 FPS I have to change to NTSC and format my memory card.
Also after 15 minutes of shooting at 60p 28Mbit/sec the sony a7 is overheated even indoors and automatically shut downs.

Re: "Warning you are in NTSC Mode" wtf?

I feel you guys, just got the camera and this logon screen realy does ******,

but hey, i found a solution!

Go here:

https://github.com/ma1co/OpenMemories-Tweak

Just follow the instructions to install the app onto your camera (very straitforward), and change the option into the "region tab" of the app, it worked on my RX100m4, and it also unlocks other cool features too!

Hope that helps Smiley Wink

Re: "Warning you are in NTSC Mode" wtf?

I'm having the same issue and requesting the feature to hide that message permanently - Should be an easy fix.

Please listen to your users, sony:

The internet has a lot of those posts and it bothers many within the community.
