Hi Djred,

 

Please provide the model number of the Sony product(s) that you are using so that we can assist you better. If the Blu-ray Disc player or the Receiver that you are using is not a Sony product, then provide the jacks available in the unit for audio connection.

I purchased a receiver with HDMI inputs and that solved the problem, thanks.

How do I connect my blu ray player to my receiver to get stereo sound?

How do I connect my Sony BDP-S3100 to my receiver to get stereo sound.  My old Sony BDP S580 has RCA "line out" jacks.

Sony (& other makers of blu-ray players) has eliminated many connection options in their newer players.  Unless your receiver has a digital coax audio input jack, or can handle audio off hdmi, you are out of luck with this model player.  You were better off with your S580 (imho).
