Hi Will, I had the same issue and resorted to the USB method, which was successful.

When I downloaded the 150MB package it took about an hour (!) so I'm thinking that Sony's servers hosting the update are just incredible slow and/or under resourced.

 

I'm also going to post this reply to your "---Will---Again" account to make sure you get it.

I have exactly the same problem. Although the player connected to the internet and updated its firmware to the latest version M36.R.0175 it can't access to any app. When I try to add an app it passes step 1 & 2 and then it says "Connection Status Cannot be Confirmed. The service requested was not found. The server returned with the following reference code 48." I have opened a ticket to Sony and waiting their response. 

 

Have you managed solving the problem?

We are sorry to hear that you're getting connection status cannot be confirmed. Let's consider following the steps below.

 

  1. Perform a factory reset on the unit.
  2. Check the internet speed and make sure that the download speed is above 2Mbps.
  3. Go to Network Settings and select Internet Settings.
  4. Find Add New Address (for 2013 models) or New Connection Registration.
  5. Use the Open DNS settings instead of the Google DNS.
    • Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222
    • Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220
  6. After doing the network setup, power off the unit and unplug it from the power outlet for at least one minute.
  7. Plug the power cord back in, and power on the unit.
  8. Try to play a video from an app

If the issue is unresolved, let's update the firmware to version M36.R.0178.

Hi, I can't connect to the server too, I have a code 48, how can I fix that. I bought it from Amazon and I'm using it in Colombia. I can't acces any streaming service, please help us
