UBP-X800 will not power-up when HDMI cable connected

My UBP-X800 will not power-up when connected to a KD-XE9005 TV by HDMI cable.

As soon as I disconnect the HDMI cable, the UBP-X800 will power-up as normal and works as normal when the HDMI cable is re-connected to the TV.

If I then put the UBP-X800 into standby mode using either the remote control or the front panel button, I am unable to get it to power-up again until I again disonnect the HDMI cable.

I have tried two different HDMI cables with the same result.

The other device connected to the TV via HDMI cable - a satellite decoder - does not show the same symptoms.

Does anybody have an idea what might cause these problems?

It looks like I found the solution to the problem.

Going to setup/system settings/HDMI settings, I set the following:

Control for HDMI -> off

Control for TV -> off

The UBP-X800 will now power up as expected when connected by HDMI cable to the KD-49XE9005.

You would expect that Sony would test that their devices are compatible when used with the default settings...
