I have a BDP-S3500 that I purchased "brand new" less than 7 months ago.
The BDP-S3500 is connected to the internet through it's built in wireless connection.
iView app gives only a black screen, Youtube app gives a black screen with spinning ball icon, then the youtube splash screen followed by unending black screen and the 'setup' app gives only a blue screen with a spinning 'waiting' icon until the player times out and shuts down,
But the Netflix App works and plays content just fine.
This means that this is NOT a network connectivity issue.
Also the unit won't go into 'setup' so this is a fault that is not to do with connectivity.
I have searched online and it seems there is no way to do a 'factory reset' on this player. None that I could find anyway.
I have found two other users on this forum that have asked very similar questions with the same problem on the BDP-S3500, in 2015, and neither received an answer.
I am hoping against hope that there may be some Sony employees that read these questions and provide some actual technical support for their prodcuts.
