Re: NHL Gamecenter Live on Bluray player

Just received my answer from NHL Gamecenter

Q: When will the Sony PS3, Sony Bravia and Sony Blu Ray apps be available?

A: The Sony apps will be available by the end of January.

Re: NHL Gamecenter Live on Bluray player

I was wondering the same thing. I have the BDPS185 model and I only have an app for NHL Vault. I guess we'll have to hope that they update it soon.

Hi All,

NOTE: Not all Internet video devices are supplied with the NHL GameCenter Live app.

Follow these steps to find out if your Internet Video device supports the NHL GameCenter app:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to an active Internet connection.
  2. From the menu of the Internet video device, use the Network Update feature to make sure the latest system software has been downloaded.
  3. From the menu of the Internet video device, select the Internet icon or the Internet Content icon and look for the NHL GameCenter app.

Follow these steps to link an NHL GameCenter LIVE account with your Internet video device:

  1. Press the HOME button.
  2. Select the Video or the Internet Content icon.
  3. Select the Game Center Live icon.
  4. Select one of the game folders.
  5. Select a game.

NOTE: If selecting a live game from the Todays Game folder make sure that the game has already started. Otherwise a message will appear advising the time the game will start.

  1. Write down the code provided on the screen. This code will be the REGISTRATION CODE used in step 8.
  2. Using a computer, go to the NHL GameCenter Live website.
  3. If you have an NHL account enter your USERNAME, PASSWORD and REGISTRATION CODE. If you do not have an NHL subscription, click the SIGN UP button and follow the steps to create an account.
  4. Click CONNECT NOW.

Re: NHL Gamecenter Live on Bluray player

Don't expect sony or the NHL to ever address this issue. Based on almost 2 years of frustrating "customer service" calls with both Sony and the NHL (estimated total of about 6 hours, 4 of which have been on hold) their response remains the same...  Sony: "our engineers are aware of the probem and are working on a solution".  NHL: "the problem appears to be with the sony app, we apologize for the problem".  I've even upgraded my Internet speed to 50 Mbps in the hopes that it would make a difference. Didn't help, other than I can surf faster now.

My latest interaction resulted in a scheduled "call back" from a sony technician this last Saturday and surprise, they never called.  When I did call them, I was put on hold for over an hour to get a "level 5 technician" (sounds impressive, huh?  Trust me it's not!). The technician ("Axel" / customer service ID C5UR) was completely useless. He kept repeating all the canned sympathy verbiage they're given to make us think they are concerned about the problem and that someone is working on a solution.

I told Axel that I wanted sony to replace my BDP-S5100 with a player that worked with the NHL app. He told me that he didn't know of a player that it worked on and couldn't do that himself anyway. He'd have someone call me on Monday (during working hours).  I let him know that I had a job, and couldn't sit around the house waiting for someone to call me. 1.5 hours on the phone, again no progress or satisfaction.

I wish there was a motivated attorney/NHL fan out there who would sue sony and/or the NHL for false advertising. Maybe that would get them to actually resolve the problem. I'm sure it's a matter of economics. Sony's not losing enough money because of the problem for them to spend resources on a solution.  I'm left watching my live GameCenter games on my iPad or my Android, both of which work flawlessly, but aren't near as nice as my large TV.
