Sony BDP-S3700 OperaTV not loading Plex

I've been using the Plex app through Opera TV on my BDP-S3700 since mid February.

It was all fine until Tuesday. Suddenly when launching Opera TV I get a message about it now being Vewd. If I start the app (still listed in Favorites) I get a dialog about launching a browser then a not supported message as it loads a page at sony.tvstore.opera.com

Setup a developer account and loaded plex.tv/web/tv/opera using the URL loader.
It works fine.

So, what's going on with the Plex app link I've been using for the last 8 months?
Appears to be related to the change to Vewd, as I did not see that Monday when everything worked fine, but it was there Tuesday.

While the ULR loader is a workaround, it's even less convenient and not something the rest of the family can do. The old method was bad enough, but at least it presented a recognizable icon.

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem ! Looks like Vewd messed up something...

Same problem here. If a click on the app I get a dialog asking whether I want to launch a browser.

If I click on yes, I get a screen of something that looks like a browser (altough I was told in this forum that the BDP-S3700 does not support a browser)

But then I get a "not supported" message as it loads a page at sony.tvstore.opera.com

browser.jpg

If I click on "NO" then the screen goes blank and the BluRay player freezes... The only option is to unplug it, and then plug it back.

So, I know it might be a problem with Opera/Viewd, but SONY should keep contact with the developers to work on this.

Can we expect a software update to fix this issue? Or just stick to youtube, cause that's pretty much the only app that works for me.

Well, there is a browser, it's just not genrerally user accessible.
You are seing it because of an error.

If you setup a developer account with OperaTV/Vewd, and connect you player to that, then you can access a browser. It's meant for loading apps under development. If you search online you can find sirections to set it up and access the Plex app form the PlexTv website, which ois the workaround I'm using for now.

No telling when/if Sony will correct the error.

But I can use other apps just fine. YouTube, Netflix, Vudu, Pandora, IHeartRadio, etc.

I haven't tried other OperaTV apps as Plex was teh only one I ever used, but I expect most of those still work too.
I'll try to test some tomorrow and see if it's just Plex that broke or if it's a bigger problem.

Re: Sony BDP-S3700 OperaTV not loading Plex

Some (not all) other Opera apps fail the same way as Plex. I haven't tried them all but for exemple NFB films gives the same error. I've tried to setup a developper account, and it seems that this is broken too on Vewd's site, just registering was a pain (only worked using Chrome), and I never managed to pair the device, neither with the developper ID, nor with the 64 character device ID. Tried ten times, always got the same error message "No such pairing request (maybe id for developers is invalid?)". I guess their system is all broken from the domain name change...

I've sent an email to Vewd's support but haven't heard from them yet.

I also emailed them. This is what I got yesterday:

Subject: Thank you for contacting Vewd
"Thanks for getting in touch. We are on it! My colleagues will get back to you within the next 48 hours.
Please feel free to contact me if you experience any delays.

All the best

Bummer on the other apps. Sounds like Samsung and Opera/Vewd need to work out the issue.

As for develper stuff, I followed this:
http://mattpilz.com/how-to-unofficially-install-the-plex-app-on-opera-tv-if-its-not-available/

But I reused the Opera login I created way back (several years?)
https://auth.opera.com/account/login

It worked to enable developer options on the 10th. Looks like Vewd has changed the site though as my Opera account won't login to the Vewd site now. I can't even get a password reset using my email address on the Vewd site.

EDIT:
I was able to login to Vewd using my Opera account using Chrome on my phone.
Odd that it worked fine last week in Firefox but not now.

Re: Sony BDP-S3700 OperaTV not loading Plex

So tonight the player updated.

Now Plex isn't listed in Vewd at all. Even my favorite is gone/deleted.

Thankfully URL Loader still works.
