Has there been any resolution to this?  I have the same issue on the LG OLED55B6P.

Re: UBP-X800 No Menu screen with LG OLED TV is set to Deep Color Mode

Hello everyone,

Good news, although this condition appears to be an issue on the LG OLED Television side, our design group has developed a firmware to help eliminate Deep Color issue.  Our initial testing has looked good and we are currently planning firmware release to the public around August 10.  If any changes occur to the deployment schedule I will let everyone know.

Thank you,

Chris

Hello dusdus,

Our internal testing showed improvement, I've asked our design to follow up with your condition.  As soon as I have additional information, I'll reach out to you to better identify what is happening with your set.  Off hand, did you do a power cycle or HDMI handshake after the firmware update?  This may help reset the initial condition to allow for the CLI "fohdmi" command to be processed by the LG OLED television properly.

Hello fenster and Dynatnt1,

You both have the LG OLED55B6P televisions.  How did the update work for your units?  Are you still seeing the original condition or have you seen improvement?

Thank you,

Chris

Re: UBP-X800 No Menu screen with LG OLED TV is set to Deep Color Mode

Chris, I just did the update and it does not seem to be working on my end either. The menu screen flickers on and off more frequently than before but still will not stay on until I shut off Deep color on LG. I power cycled both the TV and X800. What is the process to redo the HDMI handshake? Just want to make sure I am not missing something. Let me know if there are any settings I am missing or should try. I can also test a beta firmware if needed. Thanks, Toby

Re: UBP-X800 No Menu screen with LG OLED TV is set to Deep Color Mode

Hello Dynatnt1 (Toby),

Thank you for the feedback.  I've provided your response to our design team to evaluate better what is happening.  If they have other suggestions for settings, I'll provide feedback.  The HDMI handshake can be re-established by either hot pull HDMI cable (unplug and plug back in) or by complete power off (remove AC cord) from Bluray side.

Thank you for the information, we'll continue to look into this condition.

Re: UBP-X800 No Menu screen with LG OLED TV is set to Deep Color Mode

I was having this exact same issue - brand new LG B6 OLED TV (with the latest firmware installed) being used with the Sony UBP-X800 (also with the latest firmware installed), and all I'd see was a black screen on my TV, when trying to view the home screen of the Sony disk player. After trying everything I could think of, I gave up and returned the Sony player to the store, and picked up a different model (Samsung UBD-M8500).

Everything went fine with setting up the new player... until I turned on "Deep Color" on the TV, and then I started seeing semi-familiar issues with the Samsung player; black screen (instead of the home screen), sometimes the home screen would show for a few seconds but then it'd switch back to the black screen. I also experienced issues with trying to view a movie on the player, with the deep color setting enabled on my TV, which did not happen with the Sony player.

Finally, I tried using a different HDMI cable (after reading how you need HDMI cables that are "up to snuff" for usage with UHD Blu-Ray players) and -- BINGO -- all the problems went away. (Wish I still had the Sony player, to see if that would fix the issues with it as well, but I don't).

If you guys who have the UBP-X800 haven't tried using a different HDMI cable (and make sure it's categorized to work with UHD players), you might want to give it a try and see if that fixes things for you.

Re: UBP-X800 No Menu screen with LG OLED TV is set to Deep Color Mode

One additional piece of info to my above post:

I found that I also had to turn off the "Quick Start" feature of my LG B6 TV, to have things working happily between the various components I have hooked up to the TV, and the TV itself. If I use a non-HDR device on my TV (like the Nintendo Switch or Apple TV), turn the TV off (with the Quick Start feature enabled on the TV), and then later on go to use a HDR-enabled device, the TV gets unhappy and starts pulling stunts with no picture/black screen/blinking screen. So, I presume that the TV is effectivly holding stuff "in memory" from it's previous non-HDR usage, and doesn't like trying to use HDR-enabled devices afterwards. By disabling the "Quick Start" feature, the TV truly turns off between usage cycles and fixes the above issue.

Just something else I thought might be worth mentioning.
