Shooting video through netting in hockey arenas

I have a cx455 camcorder and I need to shoot live action hockey games in arenas. Just wondering what the best settings would be to shoot through the safety netting many areas have installed to protect the fans from pucks that fly over the boards.

You don't say how close you are to the netting.

Manual focus would be a start.

Depending on the arena netting is usually 30-40 feet away. I am going to try manual focus but I suspect subject will then go out of focus as the play moves up and down the ice (assuming the camera is at mid-ice).
