Re: Sony KDL70R550A TV problem

I am very disappointed with being a loyal customer of Sony product.  My Sony KDL-70R550A LED TV failed with red LEB blinking 5 times.  I contacted the sony repair center and was told to contact their authorized service center which would cost $89.99 eventhough they know that will result in a bad panel which will be worth more than the cost of a brand new TV.

I am hoping to get a positive response from the customer relations by sending them an email later today.

Re: Sony KDL70R550A TV problem

I guess I'm joining the crowd of disapointed customers.  I bought my KDL-70R550A

August 29, 2014 and It blacked out march 15, 2016 (one year seven months) that's terrible.

There's no use repeating the same story.  Just wondering did anyone go back to Sony?

I just had repair guy over for him to plug it in and turn it on to tell me, it was the panel.

I pad $95.00 to the repair person, what a waste of time and money when they could have told me that over the telephone.  Also, i was wondering if Sony has help anyone, whether refund, discount etc.?

KDL70mad, Sony Customer Relation offered a 15% discount for buying a brand new regular TV from their website, why bother? I think they are looking for another class action.

Re: Sony KDL70R550A TV problem

I feel like i was just offered a pacifier of 15% off a regular television.  With so many panel failures, I would think Sony would want to satisfy their customers with a better deal despite warranties.  So many other televisions last fiveto ten years or better.  In addition, there should be a recall of that model.  I wonder if Sony knows what causes a lest than two year old television to have a panel failure.  Furthermore, why would I want to buy another 70' Sony if the posssibility of having another panal failure without having some kind of long term warranty with the television. I bought the 70" for the entertainment of my family and friends, and I wish to replace that space with another 70"  or better.  All my friends and family can't believe wha happen to that television. the first response is always, you havn't even had it for year yet have you?   Or not your Sony, I told them, I looked at reviews and chose what I have had all my adult life, a Sony.  Now that I had this panel failure, I've seen so many people with the same issue, and musy repeat why hasn't Sony recalled this television, or even researched why this is occuring over and over.

It will take a lot more than 15% on another television for me to go back to Sony, despite being a long time customer.

Re: Sony KDL70R550A TV problem

I read the question from someone, is there a class action suit?  I still havn't heard if there is one available.

I feel that with so many with the same exact problem, we should contact an attorney to start one. I will call the law firm to see if I have a way to recoup or replace this television with a a extended warranty.  Because of the the way Sony is dealing with this problem they deserve this kind of suit.  Please dont give up, so many panels going bad has to be a defect in the product which is part of winning a lawsuit.

I completely agree. This is ridiculous. Just image all of the people with this issue that AREN'T on this forum. Sony needs to be held responsible. They are playing dumb like they don't know what is going on.
