While recalls are being done for the T100 and T20, why aren't the T300 with the identical problem being taken care of? I have been transferred to three different help desks now with absolutely no resolve. Any suggestions?

If Your DSC-T300 takes a long time to turn on and at the same time vibrates, shakes, or makes a grinding noise, then service will be required. Click this link here for available service options: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/service.pl
I have the same problem in my camera T300, I tried to contact Sony with no success. There are a lot of complaints about this problem in this and other models and Sony does not do anything. I am still waiting for a solution!
It took a good hour, and this blog shows a different generation camera, but in the end I got it all together! Spare part found from Greek ebayer for €30 (actually I found three of them, all in Greece, go figure). I had to disassemble the spare part (two screws). Only the inside piece is to be replaced. You will need a very small screwdriver, steady hands and a magnifying glass to get the ribbon cables reinstalled.
