ASX Media not being seen/allowing record URGENT!

 

I am experiencing issues with the Sony F55 & R5 recorder.

The ASX media is not being "seen" by the camera

 

I can format,update & change reel numbers.

The symbol for ASX, reel number & shot are displayed when ASX is inserted into R5. 

I can not record to ASX & there is no ASX duration displayed (record time).

 

Settings as follows:

 

Camera firmware:  V 8.01

R5 firmware:           V 4.10

Shooting mode: CineEI

Main operation:  ASX

Scan mode:         Normal

 

I have tried 3 different R5 recorders & multiple ASX media.

I have tried all reset of camera.

 

Has anyone come across this?

Have you pressed the "select" button on the R5? Can't remember if you need to or not, but try it.

I have not had this isssue.

 

Is the access lamp lit on the AXS 5? Red - Data Access  Green - Not accessing. OFF - No Valid Card

 

Have you tried setting the record menu to AXS and SxS.  In Recording menu- Record control - AXS or AXS and SxS

 

Apart from that try a Reset on Camera.

Thanks for your replies,

 

Had tried both ASX & SxS recording & R5 recorders select button. No luck.

 

I ended up resetting camera to previous Firmware version as the camera was needed for shoot.

Once firmware was wound back to V7.01 camera & recorder worked as usual.

 

Camera & recorder will be out on a long running job, so I will have to wait for them to get back before I can investigate further.

No colour bars on.

Have spoken to Sony. It's a mystery to them too.

Are the AXS cards on the latest firmware too? Don't see it mentioned in your post? It's very old update but our cards had to be updated as came from Sony with old firmware (few years ago but still...)

Yep. Checked that, running S24 cards on current firmware.

Another long shot question then - Are your cameras updated to V8 firmare falling into early serial numbers and updated via Sony support? Lots of people ignored that procedure and run into some trouble with cameras so maybe it's one of them? I don't want to sound rude with this, just thinking what are other possibilities causing the problem.

Valid suggestion, but I understand that would totally brick the camera, not cause a fault like this.
