Re: NEW VERSION 7.01 FIRMWARE

[ Edited ]

Hi, Doug,

As I said, it depends on the settings you have before the change to 2K Centre Scan.  For instance, you are recording 4K and change to 2K Center Scan, your Recording Format needs to change to HD.  When you change the scan to 2K Center Scan for 1-60FPS, the HFR scan [labelled Over 60FPS], will change to 2K Center Scan, as well.  Using the Quick Menu, the other parameters change automatically when you make the switch in the 1-60FPS setting.

I'm guessing that the engineers were trying to simplify the steps and build some intuition into the system as they developed these Quick Menus.  If you'll notice, the options in the 1-60FPS parameter in the Project Quick Menu are 4K, 2K Center Scan and 2K Full(2K Filter).  When you choose 2K Center Scan, the system intuits that you do not have the 2K OLPFilter installed, and changes the HFR scan to 2K Center Scan.  The assumption remains if you return the 1-60FPS setting to 4K.  If you tell it otherwise, by choosing 2K Full(2K Filter) in 1-60FPS, HFR changes to 2K Full(2K Filter), as well.

The reason for the automatic change of Recording Format from 4K to HD is more obvious; 2K Center Scan only records in 2K or HD, and HD is the more compatible format.

So, that's what I meant when I wrote about changing several parameters.

Best regards,
Will

Re: NEW VERSION 7.01 FIRMWARE

Love the new option menu.

Love the faster menu navigtation.

Love the faster access to variable frame rates.

Shame there's no clip number reset button.... surely this isn't difficult!!?

And I still LOVE this camera!

Re: NEW VERSION 7.01 FIRMWARE

Can anyone explain how I access the 2k Center Crop through the new quick menu? I can only find the option for moving to center crop for S&Q over 60fps.

Re: NEW VERSION 7.01 FIRMWARE

Quick Menu > Project page > "1-60fps" > change 4K to 2K Center.

Re: NEW VERSION 7.01 FIRMWARE

Thanks Nez. Does that mean you have to be in S&Q mode in order to have quick access to the center crop? Does anyone know if there's any difference (to audio recording or otherwise) from shooting at 25fps in S&Q mode versus the 'Fixed 25fps" mode?

Re: NEW VERSION 7.01 FIRMWARE

No, you don't need to be in S&Q mode.

Changing that "1-60fps" option in the Quick Menu doesn't make the camera enter S&Q mode, it defines how the sensor is being used for any frame rate (S&Q or otherwise) between 1 and 60fps.

It is basically the same (but presented better) as the setting in Menu > System > Base Setting > Scan Mode.

That side panel is one of the key differences between the F5 and FS7. Operating an F5 is so much easier than an FS7.
