Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

[ Edited ]

Just got word from Sony Teaneck that firmware updates to 8 wont begin till later in October(no specific date). Thankfully the email from Jim at Sony Service saved me a futile ride to Teaneck from Philadelphia today as I had just filled out the sony repair form and was ready to make the trip.

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

Hi, all,

First, the good news which I've not noticed in relation to F55s, yet... my F55, which is just outside the excluded range by forty-some units, upgraded without a hitch or a glitch.Smiley Very Happy

Now, I have a question. I've scanned the new Version 8.0 Manual and found nothing about this.

Will I be able to use the new XAVC Class480 with my original SxS Pro+ cards?  They're B-series, I guess because of the "B" at the end of the model number.

Or, are the new D-series SxS cards required?

Also, there is a typo on page 122 of the Version 8.0 manual.  Above the chart that begins on that page, it shows "3480 x 2160P" where it is meant to show "3840 x 2160P."

Best regards,
Will

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

Updated our 55 this morning, no issues.

I tested it with SxS Pro+ B series and XQD G series (we don't have the newest version so I couldn't test that) but they both worked just find with the new XAVC Class480 in 4k at 29.97fps.

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

Peter, can I kindly ask if there are any firmware plans for FS7, can you share a little hint from inside?

Long time no hear, does this mean that 4.0 was the last FW update?

Sorry for posting it here on F5/55 forum, but FS7 forum is a little dead.

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

I have a F55 within the early serial numbers ( i.e. Do not install and download yourself) with a CBK 55PD Prores board installed.

I emailed Sony Prime Support Europe and I have been sent a specific v.8.00 download by Sony for my camera. Serial number specific and not to be shared.

I will not upgrade this week as I am in the middle of a job but will load it in next week. I will double check before that it is correct to do so.

Maybe it has something to do with the Prores board replacing the previous one? Anyone else had a similar response?

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

So the Question from me is...

Is it possible, with future updates, for the F5 to record XAVC 480 internally?  It's disappointing you can't with V8.0.  So is this a hold-back feature or a hardware issue?

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

Mark,
The F5 will record in XAVC 480 if you have CBKZ-55FX installed.
