Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

Yes, formatted in camera and when I chose extract, it extracted to a particular spot I picked and I then copied that file...

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

HOLD THE PRESSES... FCPX doesn't support 480?  WTF?  Why is this even an issue in 2016, how different is 480 than the other?

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

So does anyone have a solution on how to edit this footage from version 8 firmware?  Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

Catalyst Prepare handles it just fine.  Could always transcode it out to ProRes to bring it into FCPX, which your system will like better anyway.

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

Davinci Reslove v12.5.2, as well as Avid Media Composer with the latest Sony plugin, both handle 480 just fine.

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

Avid runs great with 480 - look at the comparison of XAVC 480 with ProRes and you can maybe see why Apple doesn't like it.

Re: NEW Version 8 firmware

So my upgrade from v5.0 to v6.0 failed because the file was not recognized for some unknown reason.  A call to Sony Tech Support suggested to try upgrading to v7.01, and it Worked!  I was then able to go to v8.0 and all looks good!  Got worried for a bit...and yes, I did a reset.
