New AXSM card reader?

Are you updating the AXSM reader so we don't have to use adapters for those of us who purchased the AXS-R7 and the new media?

Do they just ignore these questions?

Re: New AXSM card reader?

Hi, Barry,

It would appear that the modification you request is not to be forthcoming in the foreseeable, at least according to the info about the new cards, here.

Note the section in the Features that begin with "Works with...."

Best regards,

Re: New AXSM card reader?

Is it not possible to just read out from the F5/55 USB port like you can with the SxS cards, without using a dedicated card reader?

Re: New AXSM card reader?

The R5 and R7 do not have a USB connection and when you are looking at a 500Gb or 1Tb card it would not be practical to transfer via USB 1.

What would be useful is a new AXSM card reader that did not need to use an adaptor and that had a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 connector for fast transfer.

Re: New AXSM card reader?

Yeah the USB port on the camera is SO slow. I've used it in emergencies though (like when I forgot my card read!).

It's bizarre they haven't brought out a new card reader. Especially as last year for the first time they brought out a Thunderbolt product (the dual SxS reader), and no have the rugged RAIDs with Thunderbolt too...

Yet another classic example of different divisions of Sony not communicating.

Re: New AXSM card reader?

Any updates on how people are reading (and offloading) AXSM A series media?

Re: New AXSM card reader?

To my knowledge the AXS-CR1 in conjunction with the adapter bundled with the media remains the only way to read AXS-A Series (blue and black trim) media.

Re: New AXSM card reader?

OK. Thanks...as I thought..unfortunately that adapter is no longer bundled with the media. At least it wasn't when we received ours.

Will follow-up with Sony later in the week and obtain an adapter (or two).
