Re: No more For Sales on F5/F55 Community

Surely the better thing would be for this forum to be properly renovated, and to have a sub forum just for "buy/sell/wanted" posts?

I mean, a FULL overhaul.

It's a total mess.

Again, this ties in to the fact that this forum is actually huge, and covers all Sony's consumer products too, and is only run by the US team.

But, this and the other professional products section is by far the most active bit.

So, as I've said 100 times before, it would be so much more valuable to users if it was detached from consumer products, and detached from USA only and made as a single international professional products forum With sub forums for every category of camera (CineAlta, PXW-FS, ENG, studio/system cameras, Alpha), all the major software (Catalyst, RAW Viewer, Media Backbone / Hive / Navigator etc), medical equipment, broadcast back-end/glue/switchers, lenses, audio, etc etc. With separate sub forums for the major models, and separate for sale etc sub pages.

If that was done in a tidy and international way it would be amazing.

Indeed.

People have asked long since to restructure the forum. In vain. Let's not consider the exclusion of 'For Sale' posts as the long awaited improval. It is just an unavoidable decision to keep the forum a very tiny bit more accessable. It's not a strong measure.

Re: No more For Sales on F5/F55 Community

You guys seem so scared. So what if someone wants to sell their camera? That's an idividual choice and isn't an indicator to anyone's ideas on the useful life of a camera system. It's unfortunate that our free market economy is being moderated on this forum. Is it really messy to have for sale posts? Or is someone afraid of the market chaos a for sale post will cause? Private website or not, this is still America!

Yes it was a horrible mess. Hard to swim through all the for sale posts to find actual useful threads. Most of the threads were for sale and people kept trying to bump them up to make the mess even worse. Good riddance! This is not ebay.

+1

To me the worst part of the sales postings was that they were usually posted by someone who had never posted before and never would again.  It's not so bad if an active, contributing participant had something to sell, but that was the exception.

It was deleted. And I cant seem to post it again....

I feel I'm being sensored... I tried to repost it yesterday and it wouldn't let me.  Here's the gyst of what I said:

I feel this is a mistake by sony.  I'm an cameraman owner operator for a living as most people on this forum are.  I own 2 packages, a Sony FS7 and also a Red Epic Dragon.  As some feedback, this sony forum is ancient and needs a big overhall.  I spend MUCH more time on the reduser forum and here's some food for thought.  Reds forum actually shows you how many people are CURRENTLY viewing their pages.

www.reduser.net

Yesterday I did a quick check and the marketplace section had over 4000 CURRENT viewers.  Thats 4000 cameramen and women, 4000 production companies, and yes resellers.  My question yesterday was "Why on earth would Sony turn away that kind of online traffic?"

I suspect what got my post deleted, but I still stand behind the thought was that Sony needs to stay up with the times.  Dont turn away online traffic.  Channel it!  In my mind Sony is king in the broadcast world, but we all know they have struggled to keep pace with ARRI Alexa and RED in the feature film/commercial world.   My thought on that is younger users.  Younger users channel the full power of the web.  Dont be like Napster, Blockbuster Video and the Taxi industry.  Adapt to new times or risk decline.

Just my 2 cents...

Hopefully this post wont be deleted like yesterday...

What?

Kidding?

Your post was decent, correct, analytical and properly advising....

If the post is really sensored, it would be the ultimate mistake by Sony!

Peter, please tell us it is not true......it's a mistake...
