XAVC APPLE FCPX plugin

[ Edited ]

All,

Here is the XAVC plugin for Apple Final Cut Pro X that enables native XAVC editing

Regards

Peter

Note

This plug-in requires:

  • Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 or higher for XAVC format
  • Final Cut Pro X 10.0.6 or higher for XDCAM format

This plug-in supports SxS Card but not Professional Disc. XDCAM Professional Disc users can use Content Browser software to ingest material into Final Cut Pro X.

Re: XAVC APPLE FCPX plugin

Yes, thanks Peter. Fast lane download appreciated.

Very happy to report that 4K XAVC on 27" Imac 3.4ghz/680MX is VERY fast in FCPX. Like 1080p fast.

MOREOVER, the GPU scales it on the fly to pass to the Blackmagic Mini Monitor to output at 1080p, high quality scaling, no hiccups whatsoever. Like working with 1080p, except there's 4x the pixels that you don't see unless you go blowing up clips.

Truly amazing times we live in.

Re: XAVC APPLE FCPX plugin

I just noticed though, that we lose metadata (nothing in the EXIF view, for instance). And also that the content gets remuxed in Quicktime MOV (instead of MXF). Is that normal? How can I get the metadata?

Re: XAVC APPLE FCPX plugin

Hey guys

I'm just posting a link to another topic I created in another thread because it may be a bug with this XAVC plug in:

http://community.sony.com/t5/F5-F55/Green-Transparent-Bars-Problem-in-FCPX/m-p/112069#U112069

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Re: XAVC APPLE FCPX plugin

Hi Peter,

Just to let you that I will not be using the "copy to event" option in FCPX and keep the original files in an intermediary location until we know better about the transcoding taking place during import (both of the green bars that I haven't noticed in my stuff, and the lost metadata)…

Regards,

Vincent
