Defective Headphones w/ No Receipt


I recieved a pair of the Sony MDR 1000x Headphones for my birthday from my parents. Much to my disapointment, the headphones refused to charge even after trying all the tips and advice I could find on this forum. They work perfectly with the cable but won't turn on for any of the noise cancelling functioning. My parents said they purchased it from Best Buy and can't find a reciept, I thought I could check their credit card bills but they paid in cash. I want to get the headphones repaired/replaced but can't find the necessary proof of purchase. Does anyone have any advice on how to do so?
