Re: Sony MDR-1000X left side of bracket broken in 10 days

well man, we're in vain. in terrible situation i say you. I really regret buying my sony mdr 1000x. when i held the qc 35 bose, man, it really feels robust and durable. I mean, it's so durable. and to my plasticky sony, it REALLY ******. and man, oh man, the 3.5 mm jack haha i should've taken a pic, i though you can change the cover, because it unscrews then i realized there's a glue. so it's glued! IT'S SO CHEAPLY MADE! NEVER TO BUY AGAIN FROM SONY.

ALSO, for those who are making some DIY's, i recommend putting the entire part and replacing it. so good luck for all of us finding one. it will end up BREAKING THE ENTIRE PIECE even if you wrap it around with some glue due to tension. I hope some hero here makes a 3d print model for people to use

Re: Sony MDR-1000X left side of bracket broken in 10 days

Hi Joffrey.

I'm sorry but your post doesn't provide a solution. I have reached sony's support in France already and I have yet to get an answer from them. They are supposed to call me but haven't yet. And they'll probably tell me that the warranty doesn't cover this issue anyway.

Fixing our headphones for free is the only solution to the problem.

Re: Sony MDR-1000X left side of bracket broken in 10 days

You may use UV glue and hook-and-loop fastener aka "velcro" to fix the crack. It's the best DIY way to fix this.

And if you go for SONY Service, they will just replace the headband with whole new part. There's no way they "fix" it with glue or something...

As far as I know, SONY China is settle with 70 user and all Service Center in China will accept repair free of charge.

Hi OldCaptain,

Thanks for the info, can you show a picture of you DIY fix ?

Thanks also for the info about the china service center. I've forwarded it to my retailer and will be sure to tell Sony about it when (if) they call.

Thanks

Re: Sony MDR-1000X left side of bracket broken in 10 days

Put just enough amount UV glue into the crack and exposure to the UV light in all way. ANY of the liquid which does not get exposed to the UV light will NEVER dry. Wait for an hour to make sure it's solid. Fix it with velcro right on the crack. It's not so pretty but it's solid.

Re: Sony MDR-1000X left side of bracket broken in 10 days

I got sony to agree to fix my headphones for free.

Had to threaten to file a complaint through a consumer association but it worked.

Should get them back in about 10 days !
