Re: HT-CT260H HDMI ARC issues with an LG 55LA7400 Smart TV

I have a similar problem with the HT-CT250 and LG 55LN5600 here is what I've found

1. LG SIMPLINK has to be on to control the Sound Bar volume via the TV.

2. LG Audio setting is set to External Speaker (Optical/HDMI ARC). As long as you have the opitcal cable connected as wel, the operation is the same no matter which input is set on the Sound Bar (TV/HDMI or OPTICAL).

3. To get the audio control via the TV volume control I need to Press AMP MENU, select HDMI, select C.HDMI, and then turn C HDMI off then back on to get everything to work (audio comes out from the sound bar and the TV volume control changes the volume on the sound bar).

4. If I leave the sound bar on and turn the TV off and back on the sound initially comes out from the TV speaker but changes over to the sound bar within a couple of seconds and the TV volume control changes the volume of the sound bar.

5. If I turn the sound bar off, even if I leave the TV on, I have to again cycle C HDMI off and back on.

LG SIMPLINK can be setup to automatically turn HDMI connected devices on and off. I turned that feature off and just leave the sound bar on all the time. However it would be much better if it worked properly so the sound bar could be turned on and off with the TV without having to cycle C HDMI off and on everytime.

Re: HT-CT260H HDMI ARC issues with an LG 55LA7400 Smart TV

I can replicate the exact same issue on my 47la6608 LG tv. Latest firmware is installed, tried troubleshooting everything. As this is most obviously a protocol issue I really hope this gets fixed by Sony asap.

I'm happy to provide any further information if needed.

Re: HT-CT260H HDMI ARC issues with an LG 55LA7400 Smart TV

I also have the same exact problem. Just purchased an LG 50LN5700. Trying to pair it up with the CT260H soundbar. Have done many of the things mentioned on this board to get the soundbar to work. Yes, they work but I have to cycle through the settings every time I turn the systen off and on. Something is going to go if this cannot be fixed and it won't be the tv.

Could someone from SONY please figure this out!!!!!

Every single time I turn everthing off and then back on I have to go into the amp settings/hdmi...and turn it off then back on.

Please help.

Re: HT-CT260H HDMI ARC issues with an LG 55LA7400 Smart TV

I have a LG 60LN5700 and I am have the same exact issues as described with the 5 seconds of functionality of the sound bar before having to perform the annoying cycling of the sound bar settings. I have contacted phone support for both LG and Sony without any success. According to LG all of the settings are set correctly therefore I believe it is an issue with the Sony sound bar. I know I can set it up using optical cord but then I have two remotes and I purchased this sound bar because of the HDMI ARC function so not being able to use it is irritating and makes me question the competency of Sony as this is a new product for them. I would love to see Sony address this issue so I could have a completely functioning sound bar.

I am in the Columbus Ohio area. Could Sony please have a Sony technician contact me and visit my home to see this issue for themselves. It would save us all a lot of trouble!

Re: HT-CT260H HDMI ARC issues with an LG 55LA7400 Smart TV

Since there is no standard to HDMI-CEC, companies will sometimes use their own modified HDMI-CEC. This can sometimes cause issues like are being reported. In this case LG has made notes in their manual saying the following:

This function works only on devices with the SimpLink logo ( ).
Make sure that the external device has a SimpLink logo.

Use of a third-party device with HDMI-CEC features may cause malfunctions.

Re: HT-CT260H HDMI ARC issues with an LG 55LA7400 Smart TV

(C8AQ) - Thanks for the info. However, we are not talking about CEC not working. We are talking about the ARC not working. The ARC function is not staying on when the soundbar is turned off. CEC and ARC are 2 different things. Your reply is not addressing the issue we all are having.

Thank you

CEC and ARC are apart of the same family. In order for ARC to work correctly CEC also needs to be functioning correctly (with both devices speaking to each other with no issues). I do apologize that some customers find they are having an issues with their Soundbar in use with an LG TV. Due to the LG TV having literature indicating that only Simplink devices should be used there is nothing at this time I can further suggest.

Re: HT-CT260H HDMI ARC issues with an LG 55LA7400 Smart TV

Could you please just forward this issue to the firmware developers? Obviously ARC is working correctly, just during initialization there seems to be some miscommunication. Seems like a fix for this issue wouldn't be too difficult. Plus everybody with an LG TV seems to have this issue

(C8AQ) I respectfully disagree with your response. It seems as though Sony will do the same as LG and take the easy way out.
