Yamaha av controller is rated 4,2 stars. BTW, it's Denon avr-x4400h, not *w

"PS: I saved proof that Sony still advertises SongPal compatibility with the 1050, but they'll remove it and then it's like this debacle never happened"

...so did I.  LOTS OF IT, with date codes.  Available on request.

Re: STR-DN1050 and Music Center

Yes but I don’t think Heos is the remote for receiver. I believe you need to use denon AVR remote app to control zone 2 source, volume, etc. on denon receiver. (2 stars) I’m looking for a replacement of what I used Sony receiver for. Specifically I was airplaying audio from movies and music to zone 2 which is outside speakers for the yard. I think I can do the same with sonos and Apple TV. I can airplay to Apple TV which in turn will hook up to sonos amp which will control my outdoor speakers.

Re: STR-DN1050 and Music Center

Strange. On iOS, yamaha is 2.8 stars. Higher than I checked previously but still leaves a lot to be desired. Why is it so hard for these companies to make a decent remote app?!!!

That’s incredible. I believe it’s only a matter of time before a class action suite is started.

Re: STR-DN1050 and Music Center

You mean the kind that starts as a quiet small scale action but quickly gets picked up as a viral human interest media storm story of the little guys battling the faceless greedy electronics giant who took all their money and then told them to get lost - the kind which manages to get posted on everyone's Facebook and Twitter and eventually ends up shared around globally and actually causing a significant dent in the careers of the short sighted corporate execs who made the split second decision during a 3 hour departmental software meeting that they could get away with short changing a few customers, because 'Who cares, we're Sony!'?

@dbongard1
Can you please send me the list with date-stamped sites? I'm trying to address this with the Consumer protection agency here in Sweden - after a rather long mail conversation with Sony customer support that denied help/compensation/link-to-old-songpal and just refers to the "Reference guide pages 11-15" (https://www.sony.se/electronics/support/res/manuals/Z008/Z008356111.PDF).

This is would be en English version: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/res/manuals/Z015/Z015078111.PDF.

A very ignorant attitude.
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Re: STR-DN1050 and Music Center

Wish I could get STR-DN1070 owners to get this motivated enough to ask Sony for Dolby Vision support. I know that is a different matter so there's no need to offer up an explanation that DV was never offered as a feature on the 1070. I hope I made this clear so there will be no need to offer rebuttals on this point.

That being said, keep in mind that Sony has attorneys too and may have consulted them at some point about the matter. The defense for them may lie in the terms of service for the application. Companies usually use wording regarding usability, suitability and termination of service that offer them protections against providing undefinate support for a product. I would be rather supprised if they haven't already done the necessary CYA steps.

You can sue anyone and may be able find someone to take the case but winning isn't assured. I'd suggest that consumer pressure may get you the desired result if enough people complain loud enough.

Consumer requests made Marantz and Denon opened up Dolby Vision upgrades from only 2016 models to 2015 and 2016 models. Granted, D&M are just audio components suppliers (focused on just these types of products) and seem to be more intouch with thier customers and the market. Sony does alot of things and really does seem to value thier home theater products and customers like Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, and Onkyo. Case in point, at the time Marantz wasn't offering DV upgrades on 2015 recievers they offered to take my year old 2015 reciever in for 'warranty service'. This 'warranty service' required me to pay $150.00 and they shipped out a brand new 2017 equvalent replacement. That is customer service at it's best. A customer satisfaction driven company. A company that knows that they can win a customer for life with good support. At the end of the day it didn't matter because enough people asked for DV updates for the 2015 models that they changed the policy to include the 2015s. Anyway, it was a win for Marantz customers and they have earned loyal customers in the process.

The user community needs to get Sony to care enough about customer satisfaction to know that sales in the future depends on how you treat customers today. Using your voice to influence Sony might be just as effective as a lawsuit. Maybe more so if the case is won and all you get are coupons for a $10 voucher to use on a new Sony reciever and no Music Center. The lawyers always win in these situations and the consumer does sometimes.

Ask Sony to reverse the decision using every opportunity you can.

I don't need remote controller app. I need an app for streaming.
