streaming video from PC to Sony Bravia TV

I am unable to stream a sample of Windows7 video from my PC to Sony Bravia TV using "Play To" feature of WMP 12. It says "file format is not supported" but if I play locally the file play no problem. I know my "Play To" is set up properly because I can stream the same video to my laptop and vice versa. How do I set up the TV to properly work with WMP 12?

My next step is to be able to play x.264 HD files.

Re: streaming video from PC to Sony Bravia TV

so here is the situation up till now. I have:
a Sony KDL-55EX710 Bravia TV

a laptop

a desktop

the same movie file

the laptop can stream to the TV fine

the desktop can stream to the laptop fine

but the desktop can't stream to the TV. It will say "contacting media server..." but then "media format is not supported"

Re: streaming video from PC to Sony Bravia TV

Sir,

I purchased Sony Bravia 32EX550 last month. I want to play video on my bravia through my DELL inspiron. Both are on the same network. I connected my TV with the modem through LAN Cable and my laptop is connected wirelessly with that modem. Please guide me the proces how to play video from my laptop to my sony TV.

DLNA technology makes it easy to view photos, stream movies or listent to music wirelessly from your computer. While it is easy, the set up will vary based on things like the operating system.

The following solution on the Sony esupport site contains videos and steps to help explain the DLNA feature and walk you through the set up.

Re: streaming video from PC to Sony Bravia TV

Hi Realguy54!

The KDL40XBR2 is not an internet capable TV thus you cannot stream videos from your computer to the TV through DLNA. However, you can use the TV as a monitor for your computer. For more information on connecting a TV to a computer for use as a monitor please click here
