Please add Plex to your development list. I was disappointed to find that this app is offered by other brands but not on Sony TV's. This is a must have for home media servers. Thanks.
On my KDL-42w655a i actually have a decent working Plex application (it's a 2013 model).
Thanks so much Sony!
As a XBR owner, I also would like to see Plex added to the firmware!
Really disappointed about this looking to buy another TV soon most likely will get a Samsung as they have awesome plex support
I bought the KDL-55W829 about one month ago. I didn't even bother checking to see if it would have Plex just because I had really high expectations. I am just DONE with this wanna be company that simply doesn't give a rats ****** about what THEIR CUSTOMERS want.
Ta ta Sony, next time I will go for Samsung or LG! _!_
Hi , i'm italian , and i recently bought a W8 42 " Series.
The app section on my tv Contains only app for international services and channel , only few app is developed for italian services .Please insert at least PLEX app , in this way we can manage our videos , music , and picture Independently. The Plex App dont have any "on Demand" content , this app do not create any competition on your actual online services .
Thanks in advance
On my TV KDL-50W805B, Plex appears in my apps list but when I install it and try to enter the app it says there are too many problems and it cannot be used.
Can anyone confirm this is also happens to him?
I need a Plex client for my KDL-60W630B as well. The native DLNA client that was built in is ******. Come on, Sony.
edit: Actually I now see a Plex app in the SEN list. I opened the app and it says "Coming Soon... unless you want to be a Plex Pass (subscription) member". I'm not sure if I want an ongoing subscription to Plex. A one-time install fee is fine, so I have fingers-crossed this "coming soon" means days and not months.
Please add a PLEX app that will function on the KDL65W850A and KDL47W802A series. I have both and currently am unable to access the Opera TV apps store on either TV. A native "full function" application on the Sony Bravia line is needed. We bought Sony based on it's brand, quality and ability to deliver. Please don't let us down on this very much in demand application. Media streaming is core to a Smart TV functionality and PLEX is one of the most popular Media Serviers available on multiple platforms so having a native PLEX app on Sony, just makes sense. Please deliver. Thanks
Coulda used this or any media center/server app about 5 years ago now. Knew I shoulda bought the lg oled.
Plex is coming to Sony Bravia !
I'm just here to add 1 more vote for the Plex app it's awesome app and I was really surprised when I found out that Sony don't have it. Please consider adding it for SONY BRAVIA KDL50W815B.
Yes, please add a Plex client app. And add it to your blu-ray players as well as TVs.
In the meantime, I was able to get the Plex app to work via the OperaTV app on my blu-ray players (we have multiple Sony Blu-Ray players in our home (if I had only known about this issue when purchasing)). If OperaTV is an installed app on your Sony device, you may also be able to get it working by opening the app, navagating to Popular in the top menu and locating PLEX. I then added it to my OperaTV apps for easy finding.
It's not as convenient as a native Sony Plex client app would be as you have to always go to the OperaTV app and then open Plex there, but it does work better than the standard DLNA connection provided by Sony. I'm able to see the movie icons as well as the movie summaries. Fast forward and rewind appear to work better and it also remembers what I've recently watched and allows me to continue watching a movie from where I left off -- even on a different device.
Anyway, give it a try. Hopefully Sony will take the time to add a Plex client soon. Or update their DLNA streaming functionality to show icons and information. Their SideView phone app shows the icons. Why can't their Blu-Ray app do it?
