FTP connection to Synology NAS

I am unable to connect to my Synology NAS using Catalyst Browse.  I am using the Places tools, "Add remote server" tool.

I have set up the NAS for access to the required share via ftp, but I cannot find the settings required to access it from Catalyst Browse.  There is no help provided about the required settings in the on-line help for Browse.  It is not possible to enter the full ip address of the NAS, as there appears to be a limit on the characters that can be used for this.

Whatever settings I try I always receive the same error message "Failed to connect to diskstation due to time out".

Can anyone offer help with the settings required, please?

Re: FTP connection to Synology NAS

Hi stablesgh,

Welcome to the forums and thank you for the question!

Can you mount this device directly Windows Explorer/Finder?  If so, I would recommend trying to access the NAS that way, and locate it in the Devices tab in Catalyst Browse.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thank you,

Omar

Re: FTP connection to Synology NAS

After a number of further attempts, my diskstation was recognised - I do not know what I did differently to make it work.

Once recognised it seems to be there permanently.

Thanks for the suggestion. i will keep it in mind if problems re-occur!
