My KDL42EX440 was working and then was dead. I think I had some type of power surge that took out a blu-ray player, DirecTv receiver HDMI port and a PC power supply that was connected to the VGA port. The only common component is the main board with the HDMI and VGA reside. I tied different outlets, swapped batteries in the remote, tried to manually turn it on and tried the Home/Power on trick but no go.
I ordered a Power Supply board that is supposed to be good but same result.
I ordered a new main board but ended up with a newer board that isn't compatable with my tv, the ribbon cable s smaller than the connector on the new board. The exact board (1P-0124J00-4010) is out of stock on every site I looked at and the 1P-0125J01-4011 will not work.
I even checked the power cord to make sure it okay.
Any ideas? The screen is perfect and the it worked great right up until it died.
I'm guessing the main baord failed and it controls the power on.
